BBC
runs a stormer and reverses Stewards cup form with Aero Blackjack
Walthamstow Report
10 Apr 2008
Thursday's card was a decent open card.
Setemup
Velvet broke best and led round in the PUPPY STANDARD - Division
4. Turar
Abit showed a nice turn of pace down the back straight and took
over from the 3/4. Setemup
Velvet and Bell
Tornado tangled legs & both fell in behind, allowing Leannes
Pride to plug on for second.
Cranham
Girl led up in the BITCHES STANDARD - Division 2. Shes
Chicken too over from the second bend and went on to land the
race. Snappy
Trapper kept on for second. Shes
Chicken has a decent run at Dundalk on his card.
Noirs
Ted was thrown in, in the STANDARD - Division 2. He led and made
all. Murlens
Riom kept on for second.
Lockdale
Diamond ran out a decent winner of the PUPPY STANDARD - Division
3. He rode a few bumps on the run to the first bend and once he hit
the front, he pulled clear. Brians
Mate plugged on for second.
Beardys
Harry won a scrappy Division 2 hurdle. All
Clued Up looked the likeliest winner after leading, but he was
not fluent at the 3rd bend and he was run out of near the line. They
finished in a heap in behind.
Hotdog
Jack was an unimpressive winner of the Division 1 hurdle. He
paced up well after a modest break, was crowded at the second and
does not seem to be at his best. Lodge
Mentor ran on for second. The veteran is running pretty well.
Dubai
Adventure made all to land the marathon, holding on by half a
length from Swift
Leon. I have made a few derogatory remarks about Swift
Leon, but he continues to perform to a fair level.
Droopys
Oi Oi made all to land the PUPPY STANDARD - Division 2. Droopys
Oi Oi is blessed with decent early pace, though he has not
looked the strongest coming home on a few occasions. (This wasn't
one of them) Directors
Ruler plugged on for second. Nebuchadnezzar
ran moderately.
Mystical
Haka had been in fine form going into the Div 1 standard, but
had a tricky looking trap 5 draw to contend with here. His early
pace still got him to the front, but he could not hold Full
Bloom, who came with a strong run and led from the 3rd bend. Full
Bloom reached the quarter finals of the Derby last year, so is
obviously a decent sort. Mystical
Haka didn't take the 3rd bend fluently, but kept on for second.
Presence
Of Mind led round in a decent puppy open, the Division 1 PUPPY
STANDARD. Podges
Dilemma took over at half way and went on to win. Lethal
Freddie ran well below par and never got competitive. Swift
Moment didn't take the bends well, but plugged on for second.
The event was weakened somewhat by the withdrawal of Westmead Osprey.
Noirs
Heart ran out an impressive trap to line winner of the Division
1 BITCHES STANDARD. Hypatia
Blue was bumped on the run up and kept on for second.
The
good thing in the last, Genesis
Dream, obliged with the minimum of fuss. Quickly into her
stride, she put the race to bed early. Discreet
Cat plugged on for second.
