Dark Fantasy lands a
gamble returning from a layoff
Walthamstow Report
01 Apr 2008
Tuesday's card was a modest graded card.
Walthamstow decided to give something back by making it free entry
for everyone and your first pint free. They turned plenty of people
away, as there was a stampede for this generous offer.
Tadgells Emily ran out a comfortable winner of the opening A9.
After a very slow start, she showed some pace to the first bend.
Once hitting the front off the second bend, she pulled away from the
field. She was competing in A7 before seasonal rest, so should be
good for another win soon, provided she escapes a double penalty.
Slaney Oak plodded on for second after suffering crowding at the
second bend.
Try She Will set the early pace in the A8, but she faded to
nothing from the 3rd bend.
Lochbo Buddy ran on and took over and was followed home by
State The Facts. This was
Lochbo Buddy 1st Stow win on his 6th attempt. He showed modest
form at Cork previously.
A truly shocking S4 went
the way of
Beltra Delta. This was his 11th win in 126 Stow outings. He's an
Oct '02, so surely has earned a retirement?
Appletown Donna grabbed 2nd despite a dwell up on the run in.
Egmont Pedro set the early pace in the second thrilling A8,
before running wide at the last bend and tiring on the run in.
Tidy Hotspur stayed on for a surprise win, his 2nd from 23
attempts.
Barnestown Lad should have won, but he dwelt up at the 3/4 and
on the run in.
Multeen Magic made all to land the A7., making it 3 from 20.
Courage Best ran wide and plugged on for second.
Westridge Faith produced a decent start and led from trap to
line to land the A5. The switch back to the flat presumably got him
interested again. This was just his 2nd win from 24 starts.
Seven Gold Bars ran wide at the bends and kept on for second.
Directors Perk and
Pinehurst Silk went up best to the bend in the A6, with
Directors Perk leading off the second bend.
Centaur Lucky was middle & bumped at the start. He paced up well
down the back and took over the lead at the 3rd bend. He appeared to
cramp near the line, though perhaps was fading as well and he was
picked up late by the staying on
Crash Quest. His Irish form looked ok, but he may struggle a
bit, being a slow starter.
Killeacle Hobbs broke well in the S1 and led round.
Julies Protege came to challenge, but eased at the 5th bend. In
a bunch finish, the cumbersome, wide
Swift Leon swooped to claim the race on the line. He's 14 from
61 now, so not a bad record, considering the ground he concedes at
the bend and the fact that he comes from off the pace.
Chivalrous started best in the second A5 and led round.
Cunning Devil flew past him at the 3rd bend and ran out a decent
winner.
Eye Onthe Spirit stayed on ok from the rear and finished 2nd.
Dark Fantasy landed a gamble in the A4, beating his kennel mate
Pinewood King.
Pinewood King loomed as a real threat at the third bend, but
followed his orders to the letter and let his kennel mate do the
business.
