Aero Blackjack wins a
thrilling Stewards Cup final
Walthamstow Report
29 Mar 2008
Saturday's card featured the final of the Stewards
cup.
The opening 430m open went to
Seanis Lad.
Seanis Lad whooshed out of the traps and made all in a flying
25.81. He should prove tough to beat in upcoming 430m opens based on
this.
Farley Legend ran a decent race in second.
Carlsberg Flash started well and led up in the NGRC STEWARDS CUP
PUPPY STANDARD - Division 2. He checked at the bend and lost all
momentum.
Blackmagic Jack took over at the second bend, but was outclassed
by one of Bob Morton's super pups.
Westmead Osprey, by Westmead Hawk, flew down the back after
getting a very clear run early and led from the 3rd bend. He is very
fast indeed, but needs some luck in running, due to his lack of
early pace.
Fine Moment made all to land the NGRC STEWARDS CUP NOVICE
STAYERS - Division 1. He held on by 3/4 of a length from
Gilbeyhall Rodge, who stayed of from well off he pace.
Genesis Jose was 2nd until fading on the run in.
The NGRC STEWARDS CUP MAIDEN STANDARD went to
Brigadoon. He was headed down the back straight by the
favourite.
Marwills Silver. However,
Marwills Silver's mind did not seem focused on the job and he
ran round in his own time.
Marwills Silver is looking a very expensive purchase indeed.
So Said He kept on for second.
Kildare Lark was all out to land the NGRC STEWARDS CUP HURDLE
STANDARD. The 2007 hurdler of the year was lucky that
Billsdad Bill wasn't completely focused on the job, as he dwelt
slightly on the run in, when looking the most likely winner.
Like Hot Cakes was another to hold on by the skin of his teeth
in the 6 bend open.
Ontheriver Ten stayed on and it looked like he had got up.
Like Hot Cakes got the verdict by a short head.
It was more pain for the layers as another
favourite obliged in the NGRC STEWARDS CUP STANDARD - Division 2.
He's a blinding dog this boy, he's won 20 of his 40 races, including
6 opens and 8 A1s.
Noirs Denis showed good pace down the back straight and held
every chance, going down by half a length.
Legal Major made it four favourites on the trot when leading
from half way to land the NGRC STEWARDS CUP SENIORS STANDARD for the
Wright family. The tractor boys from Ipswich are having a good year
and their team are on the brink of the Championship playoffs too.
Ronnies Champion was crowded a few times & kept on for second.
Perceptive Pacey led to half way and ran his usual honest race
in third.
Rhias Beauty ran right away with the NGRC STEWARDS CUP NOVICE
MARATHON, making it 5 favourites on the trot. She led from the 6th
bend and pulled clear, winning by just over 9 lengths.
Bell Tempest towed her along to the 6th bend and finished 2nd,
he was one paced from the 7th bend.
Unique Picture showed the best early pace in the NGRC STEWARDS
CUP PUPPY STANDARD - Division 1, but conceded plenty of ground,
running wide at the bends and was headed at the 2nd bend.
Ballymac Ken led from the second and held on by a neck from
Barnfield Loreto.
Barnfield Loreto showed blinding pace and is one to keep on the
right side of.
Cobra Striking flew out of the traps and made all in the NGRC
STEWARDS CUP STANDARD - Division 1.
Noirs Ted came to claim the race, but again cramped and lost out
by a head. He'll be eligible for the veterans race soon and should
prove very hard to beat in those races, with warmer weather
hopefully arriving soon.
Aero Blackjack started very well and made all the running to
land a thrilling Stewards cup final. He was really game and pulled
out more & more as he was challenged.
Big Brett Coal ran a decent race in second, though he's still
not negotiating the bends fluently and this ultimately proved
costly.
Barnfield Slippy also put in a good show in third in a memorable
final.
Hypatia Blue made all to land the NGRC STEWARDS CUP BITCHES
STANDARD.
Noirs Heart paced up well down the back straight and went down
by a length in second. That's 14 from 38 for
Hypatia Blue, including 5 opens.
The night
unfortunately went out with a bit of a whimper as
Moyvilla landed the weak 5 runner NGRC STEWARDS CUP NOVICE
STAYERS - Division 2. He fell out of the traps an stayed on to lead
on the run in.
Cable Mac was one paced from the 5th bend in second.
