Podges comes out best
in a race with decent puppies
Walthamstow Report 22 Mar 2008
Saturday's card was an ok graded card.
The opening P7 went to
Jonos Patience, who showed some early pace after an average
break and led from the 1st bend. This was his 1st win on his 4th
attempt, having been a beaten fav twice.
Centaur Fuzzums was slow rounding the first tow turns and stayed
on for second.
Terry My Pal set the early pace in the H1, but again weakened
from the 3/4. Kennel mate
Call Again led him up until moving off at half way. He kept on
and caught the fading
Terry My Pal on the run in.
Toosey Tina broke well & led round in the S3, but slowed going
into the 5th bend and ran out of puff. After a slow start
Silky Rose ran on and led from the 5th bend to win a moderate
race.
Chilli Blue produced a fast start & led early in the P6. After a
very slow start,
Nellies Choice stayed on and led on the run in.
Chilli Blue's early pace should ensure he wins his fair share,
he's 4 from 11 now.
Winfield Ranger led a field of modest starters in the A5.
However, he was green on the bends and was run out of it on the run
in. After slow start and not being fluent round the first 2 bends,
Hawks Dilemma stayed on and led on the run in, for his 1st win
on his 3rd attempt.
Killeacle Hobbs set the early pace in the S1, but faded from the
5th bend and was caught on the run in. After a modest start,
Gilbeyhall Rodge stayed on and took up the running close home.
Roswell Zodiac ran a decent race to land the A4. After a slow
start, he showed pace from the first bend and led from half way.
Journey Star eased at the first bend and plodded on for second.
In a field of slow starters,
Xaar Sioux led between the first two bends in the S4 and set the
early pace. However, she slowed at the 5th bend & faded to nothing.
Tight Grip took it up from the 5th bend and held
Sligos Win by the minimum margin.
In one of the better contests of the night,
Podges Dilemma made all to land the A4 for the Central Beers
lads (owners of Fire Height Dan) & the Puzey kennel.
Turar Abit kept on for second after a modest start.
Droopys Oi Oi broke modestly, paced up well, challenged at half
way, but faded on the run in. These are are 3 very nice pups.
Ants Gunner led off the second bend in the A3, but could not
sustain the gallop.
So Said He flew past at the third bend and followed up on his
decent win last week. He's a nice dog.
Special Trip was a bit clow rounding the first 2 turns & plugged
on for second.
Gypsy Vieri started well, moved off at the bend and made
all to land the A2.
Onbir Dan was crowded at the 1st bend and plugged on for second.
Snappy Trapper ran moderately in third.
Perceptive Pacey trapped very well and led round in the A1. The
old boy understandably cried enough and was passed at the 3rd bend.
He's surely earned a retirement, since this was his 113th run at the
Stow. He has won 32 of them and has been a grand servant to
connections.
Lockdale Duke ran on well and led from the 3rd bend.
Phoenix Gerry stayed on for 2nd.
Reenview Lass made all to land the S2 finale by a diminishing
3/4 of a length.
Marked Away stayed on late & grabbed second. The favvy
Treacle Drum screwed up on the run in, when holding every
chance.
