Tuesday's card was featured the Arc final, with a
decent supporting Open card.
Ladbroke's kindness of sponsoring the Arc & supporting card spilled
over into their pricing of the opener. Mr Harkness got it badly
wrong. They made
Noirs Heart a whopping 14/1 and
Stone Mole Spark a 7/1 shot. Sadly, I failed to spot their ricks
until I arrived at the track.
Noirs Heart showed decent early after an average break and made
all the running to land the Bitches standard..
Stone Mole Spark turned handy and held every chance and finished
second. Gerry & the pacemakers had it right off and you could
hear them scream him home on the Sky coverage!
Wheres Yer Man got to the front from a tricky looking draw in
the veterans open, but could not sustain the gallop and was headed
at the 3rd bend.
Westmead Liz turned in a position and wore them down by the run
in.
Hee Haws Cantona headed the early leader at the 3rd bend, but
faded on the run in.
Fine Moment showed super early pace in the puppy stayers open.
Aero Blackjack turned handy and stamped his authority on the
race from the 5th bend.
Fine Moment weakened on the run in.
Aero Blackjack was sent off 6/4, having been available at 11/4
in the morning. The prices at the track on Sky nights are worse on
pretty well every runner.
Rosstemple Dream led round in the marathon, but appeared to have
a dwell up at the 3rd bend.
Baran Miami took over and went on to score.
Genesis Alix held every chance, but switched behind on the run
in.
The hurdles open promised to be a thriller, with 2007 hurdler of the
year,
Kildare Lark taking on this years impressive Springbok winner,
Hotdog Jack.
Hotdog Jack didn't trap as well has he can, but he flew to the
corner and threw himself round the bend.
Kildare Lark was outpaced into the bend and checked off and was
badly crowded at the first bend.
Be All kept on for 2nd, avoiding the trouble at the first bend.
It's take a good one to lower the colours of
Hotdog Jack. His early pace is a potent weapon.
Toosey Blue showed the best early pace in the Invitation race
and led round.
Ronnies Earner showed the better middle pace and headed his
rival going into the 3rd turn. He checked up and presented the race
back to
Toosey Blue.
Droopys Nelson made all to land the stayers open. He pulled out
a decent lead, but again faded in the closing stages and held on by
a short head.
Big Brett Coal held every chance, but switched behind on the run
in.
Ebony Ocean trapped out well and led round in the marathon, with
Snappy Girl close behind.
Bubbly Kate came to challenge at the 5th bend along with
Spiridon Louis, but appeared to be spiked at the 5th bend and
lost all chance.
Spiridon Louis picked himself up well and took the lead passing
the winning post for the first time.
Spiridon Louis emerged as a big threat down the back straight
and some of the locals expected him to win.
Spiridon Louis kept pulling out more and won by half a length.
Centaur Decree put in a superb run in the final of the Arc.
Despite failing to win a heat and not being fluent at the odd bend
in the heats, we saw an improved showing tonight. The semi final
times suggested that some were feeling the effects of a few close
runs and
Centaur Decree was the only one at the races tonight. He cracked
out and made all, never looking in any danger whatsoever.
Blonde Jeannie was notably lacking her normal early pace.
Predictably the best stayer came out of the pack for second in
Kilkenny Lonjack.
Theatreofdreams produced a tremendous start in the 430m open and
made all the running.
Westmead Prince was nearest at the finish and went down by 3/4
of a length.
Legal Major challenged at the 3rd bend, but eased and lost his
chance.
Unique Picture made all in the competitive puppy 4 bend open,
Get Smart First emerged second best in a bit of a bunch finish
for second.
Special Liberty was surprisingly sent off favourite after going
through the grades and looked a little outclassed.
The 6 bend hurdles open was a very messy race.
Roancarrig View and
Vitez had a battle for he lead, until
Vitez asserted on the back straight.
Castleivy Sand ran on well and looked set to take it up from the
5th bend. However, despite travelling well to challenge, he
hesitated and
Vitez checked off and put paid to his chance and those of
Vitez.
Double Pickins plodded on past the mellie and was an extremely
fortunate winner. One of the layers, who was doing his bollocks
before this race, was looking for a rope after it!
Carlsberg Flash made all to land the maiden open. This was
impressive, since this was his first ever race.
Marwills Silver stayed on and ran him to a neck. It was
surprising that
Marwills Silver was sent off so short (5/4), given his 1/22
strike rate.
Onbir Dan was not fluent at the bends, but kept on for 3rd.
Toosey Tops made all the running to land the novice stayers
finale.
Dornans Conquest stayed on and just failed to get up.
