Flash & Jeannie set
the standard in the 2nd round of the Arc
Walthamstow Report 16 Feb 2008
Saturday's card featured the 2nd round Ladbrokes
Arc heats with some graded fillers.
Teddy Cool showed some pace up to the bend after a modest start
in the opening A7. When he swung round in front, it looked all over.
However, he stopped chasing at the 3rd bend. Checked at the sough
maybe.
Crashmeup had led him up o the bend and stayed on to lead on the
run in.
The Wizard stayed on at one pace for second.
Lastinfirstout set the early pace in the S3.
Armistice broke averagely, was outpaced to the first bend,
before grabbing the lead near the line.
Ellron was most disappointing, fading to the rear from the 5th
bend.
Brick made all to land the H1. He was high at the first hurdle
and held on by a neck from
Old Guinness, who went close, despite dome iffy jumps.
Marcus Brutus checked off at the second bend and was well
beaten.
Milldean Flash put in an outstanding performance in the
Ladbrokes.com ARC - 2nd ROUND - Heat 1. He smashed the lids, ran
middle and destroyed the field. He's 17 from 36 at the Stow and is a
contender for outright honours in a competitive event.
Flying Jack got a clear run and kept on to finish 7L second.
Erinaceous Rapid grabbed 3rd qualifying spot. he rode a bump at
the second bend and was second until fading on the run in.
Lively Arthur moved off 1-2 and plodded on for 4th.
Vipar Totti was slow away, crowded between the 1st 2 bends and
ran poorly thereafter.
Legal Major did not look sound in the first round and again
checked at the bends and was well beaten. He deserves a break.
Daphs Girl led off the 2nd bend in the S1 and was caught in a
bunch finish by
Swift Leon.
Swift Leon started very slowly, before staying on late to grab
the lead near the line.
Shelbourne Miss stayed on and held every chance in 3rd.
Arthurs Joy ran out a decent winner of the Ladbrokes.com ARC -
2nd ROUND - Heat 2. He led early and pulled clear and won by 3L.
Kilkenny Lonjack rode a significant bump at the 2nd bend and
really put it down to get within 3L of the leader. To be a contender
for the comp, I feel he needs a fair bit of luck in running and
maybe not a cleanly run race. He'll be very hard to keep out of the
final.
Swhimasdylan was outpaced and smashed up at the 1st bend and did
well to qualify in third.
Fear Becks started poorly and ran into trouble and was badly
bumped.
Wheres Yer Man rode a bump well and drove the 1st two bends
well, before fading from the last bend.
Treacle Rose was bumped at the first bend, eased at the 3rd bend
and faded.
In a field of modest starters,
Special Liberty swung round on the draw and led from 1/2 to land
the P4.
Treacle Drum was not fluent at the 3rd bend, but kept on for
second.
Blonde Jeannie was an impressive trap to line winner of the
Ladbrokes.com ARC - 2nd ROUND - Heat 3.
Centaur Decree finished 2nd, He showed decent early pace after a
modest start. He threatened to challenge at the 3rd bend, but was
not fluent rounding the turn and was a bit one paced on the run in.
Ronnies Earner finished a distant 3rd from his tricky draw in
trap 5. He ran rails and was crowded at the 3rd bend, before
plugging on for 3rd.
Black Ice Boss was crowded on the run up. He paced up to the
bend and was crowded at the 3rd bend when fading.
Julies Protege checked 1-2 and was never in the hunt.
Hypatia Blue was outpaced and crowded on the run up and at the
first bend.
Like Hot Cakes has improved into a serious 6 bend performer. She
smashed out of the traps and made all for a most impressive win.
Droopys Kan Kan kept on well enough for second and has returned
to form. It will take a mighty performance to lower the colours of
Like Hot Cakes in the coming weeks.
Cobra Striking showed sighs of returning to his potent best last
week, and made the most of a cracking draw in the Ladbrokes.com ARC
- 2nd ROUND - Heat. He unleashed his trademark burst of awesome
early pace and made all.
Mustang Garcia started well and kept on well enough, but could
not get on terms. He needs to improve a little to win the event, in
my view.
Bower Turbo came home well after a poor start and grabbed 3rd
qualifying spot.
Westmead Prince showed decent pace in the race, but was baulked
on a number of occasions.
Ballymac Rita came off the rails and was crowded on the run up
and was badly crowded off the pace when beaten.
Milldean Buster was another to suffer crowding on the run up. He
paced up to the bend, but was badly crowded as he faded from the 3rd
bend.
Roswell Zodiac showed decent early pace to lead in the A4, but
failed to get home and faded from the last bend.
Butchers Miss ran on and led on the run in.
Pillow Man kept on for second after a slow start.
Maneen Haka made all to land the A2. He's now 7 from 20.
Farloe Chisom was not fluent at the bends, yet was only beaten a
length and a half.
Tiger Scot put in a smashing performance in the A1. He trapped
well and it was all over very early.
Lockdale Duke turned 2nd, but could not live with the winner.
Discreet Cat kept on for third after a slow start.
Clonbrin Mai made all to land the usual modest S2 finale.
Localimprovement lacked middle pace, but stayed on for second.
The fav
Lindys Girl, eased at a number of bends.
