Thursday's card was an open card with some graded
fillers.
Legal
Major ran away with the opening 430m open. He blasted from the
traps and destroyed his field. This was his 7th win on the spin and
he's 21st from 50 at the Stow.. He's a lovely dog. Perceptive
Pacey finished a remote second.
Droopys
Mumba made all to land the first heat of the puppy standard. Kid
Joker challenged at the third bend and held every chance. It was
a particularly slow winning time of 29.52.
The
betting in heat one of the maiden suggested a match between Noirs
Denis and Molly
Alice. Saunders
Brave paced up best and led round. Molly
Alice took it up at half way and went on to score. Molly
Alice is owned by the Racing Post's Crayford correspondent,
Barrie Bolton.. Noirs
Denis started slowly and stayed on for second.
Choice
Jock made all to land the first heat of a BGRB sponsored S4. She
ran wide at the last bend and held on by the narrowest of margins. Granary
Girl looked the likeliest winner, but was one paced from the
last bend. Lazy
Lob was outpaced early and stayed on.
Tanner
Butler made the early running in the Boxing day standard heat
one, but was headed between the first two bends and quickly
outclassed. Astute
Gift led from the second bend and went on to score. He's 17 from
36 at the Stow, an impressive winning record. Ronaldos
Merit ran on to finish second.
Rockburst
Mason ran out a decent winner of the second heat of the puppy
standard. He came off the rails from trap one and made all. Secretariat
is proving very expensive to follow. He ran wide at the last bend
and kept on for second.
Droopys
Attracta looked to have an unfavourable draw in trap four in the
Div 1 novice stayers race and was sent off 6/1. She broke well and
made all to win by 3 lengths. Dubai
Adventure stayed on quite well for second.
Blackmagic
Rose made all to land heat two of the maiden in an ordinary
29.30. True
To Rachel did well to finish second after being crowded on the
run up.
Milldean
Flash looked an absolute penalty kick in the Boxing day standard heat
two, following the withdrawal of Cobra Striking. Kindred
Sparky set a scorching early gallop and Milldean
Flash cam and took him between the last two bends but only held
him by 3/4 of a length. I availed myself of some of the generous 4/5
on Betfair as I had a night off.
Millwards
Summit made all to win the Div 2 novice stayers event. Shelbourne
Miss was outpaced early, but stayed on for second. (Shelbourne
Miss was a NR)
Directors
Trick showed plenty of promise in heat three of the puppy
standard. He broke really well, but faded and was caught near the
line. I'm sure he'll be winning plenty of races with his early pace.
Superhods
Jack got a clear run early, showed some pace down the back
straight and led near the line.
Largo
Lassie ran out a decent winner of heat three of the maiden.
After a decent exit, she pulled clear of her rivals winning by 5l in
a decent 29.00. Joes
Honcho did not want to stay on the rails and was crowded as he
moved off at the second bend. He was somewhat one pace from the last
bend.
The Boxing day standard heat three went to Venturemore,
who has been inconsistent throughout his career. He started slowly,
moved off & was crowded at the first bend, before running on and
leading from the third bend. Rough
Region showed the best early pace, but was readily outpaced. Directors
Choice suffered trouble at a couple of bends. he showed decent
pace on the back straight and kept on for second.
The
second heat of the BGRB sponsored S4 was a shocker. Caseys
Winner, the 5/4 jolly, made the running early, but failed to see
out the trip. In a pedestrian bunch finish, Airtech
Choice held on after leading between the last two bends.
