Egmont
Pedro started best in the opening A8, but was outpaced by Comeonthreedog,
who led from between the last two bends. I may be being unfair, but
I felt that Comeonthreedog
dwelt slightly before taking it up. Comeonthreedog
was winning on his debut. Let's hope he keeps on the straight and
narrow. Gracie
Gold stayed on and grabbed second.
The first H1
heat saw a few different leaders - not normally a good sign of a
race.. First up was Castleivy
Sand. Wol
took over at half way, before Ardmayle
Machine ran on to lead near the line.
The next
H1 heat saw Westgate
Flash make all. He was a bit one paced and he held on by a neck
from Winkys
Don, who plodded on after a few iffy jumps.
The S4 was a shocker of a race. (no change there) April
Fizz led until being claimed by Mash
It Upbetween the last two bends. I have no idea why
these dreadful contests command the same prize money as an A4.
The
following A7 was not much better in terms of quality. Hammer
It Ahead led to the third bend, before being outpaced by Rooster
Feathers. He was returning from a spell on the sidelines and won
his second race from 5 starts. He's by Foreign Dancer,. who was OR
at 6 & 8 bends. Watch
It Thunder has failed to get his head in front in seven attempts
at the Stow. He was also unsuccessful in his 4 attempts previously
at Hove. He's surely due a drop in grade.
Inbetween
Dreams made all to land a surprise win in the A7, landing £185
for his owners in the BGRF bonus final race. Cassius
Clay again did not look too keen to be getting on with it, but
still finished second.
Toosey
Tina followed up on her previous win, when somehow allowed to
run in the same grade as her win last time out, an S3. She hit the
front at the second band and pulled away from the 5th bend. Never
Say Lucky lacked middle pace, but plugged on for second.
Scorpio
Skippy started well and led up in the A6. After an average
start, Aoifes
Flight led between the first two bends and went on to score. Aoifes
Flight picked a good time to win her first race, as this was
another BGRF bonus final race, with £190 going to his owners. Scorpio
Skippy ran wide at the last bend and plugged on for second.
Seven
Gold Bars made all in the following A6 to land her third win
from 6 starts. Kid
Joker held every chance in second and went down by half a
length. Robbies
Kewell showed a little promise in third after getting smashed up
at the second bend. He might prefer a wide seed.
The
S1 saw a number of different leaders. Fabregas
was first up, but ran poorly after 4 bends. Eye
Onthe Power was next up, but looked a bit one paced. Wheres
The Girls, who normally front runs, led at the 5th, but this was
not to be her night. Swift
Leon timed his challenge to perfection and led on the line,
despite being very one paced. The Racing Post's Jim Austin picked
this one out at 9/2, but I thought he had no chance.
Droopys
Hamlet looked a penalty kick in the A5, having contested decent
puppy opens recently. He made all, but held on desperately. He must
have needed this after his 19 day layoff. He's surely better than
this. Onbir
Dan kept on and went down by a head in second.
Grannie
Annie made all in the A4. After a decent start, she lacked early
pace and just got round. She might find it tougher next time. Grannie
Annie was formerly named Katies Crystal. Paxton
Prince plugged on for second after a 53 day break.
Brians
Bud set the early pace in the S2 finale, but didn't get home and
was swamped for pace at the 5th bend. Off
Course was left in front at this point, but faded and was caught
at the last bend by the staying on Baran
Miami. Center
Lad stayed on late and grabbed second.
