Saturday's card featured the Essex Records.com
marathon heats, a kennel sweepstakes and some graded races.
Jumokee Prince set the early pace in the A8, but didn't get home
and faded to the rear after being headed at the 3/4.
Find It Out and
Cassius Clay fought out the finish, with the verdict going to
Find It Out, despite taking a wide course at the last bend.
Find It Out is another by Lady Be Wise, the dam of Who Needs
Wings.
Cassius Clay is by 2005 Arc finalist Moscow Sandy.
Only four went to post for the hurdles H1 and
Castleivy Sand was sent off a generous looking Evens favourite.
He made a mockery of those odds, leading from start to finish and
winning by just under 8 lengths. The track record holder,
Blue Meadow Lad, stayed on to finish a remote second. At 4 1/2
years old, it'll be time for a well earned retirement for this one
soon. He's won 14 of his 104 races.
Lurgan Legend showed decent early pace in the A7, but again
failed to see out the trip strongly and was headed on the run in.
Seven Gold Bars stayed on and led near the line, despite running
wide at the last bend.
Blues Wish started poorly and checked at the first bend. She
came home well and only lost out by a short head.
Silbury Ruby was a one paced unimpressive winner of the first
heat of the Essex Records.com marathon.
Rio Divo led for a few bends, but failed to stay.
Cool Nelly kept on for second, going down by a length and a
quarter. (only two qualified)
After a modest start,
Elgin Mabel paced up well and led round in the A6. Her kennel
mate,
Wise Butler grabbed the lead near the line as
Elgin Mabel faded and the winning distance a
Woodhill Alfie started best and led round in the first heat of
the kennel sweepstakes. The short favvy,
Phoenix Gerry, was none too impressive up to the second bend,
but showed decent pace for the grade and led from the third bend.
Ants Gunner stayed on to share second. He showed a a high head
carriage and is not one to rely on.
In the second
heat of the Essex Records.com marathon,
Spiridon Louis was sent off 1/4 and annihilated her rivals. She
pulled clear from the 6th bend, winning by 15 1/2 lengths.
Centaur Fuji was one paced from the 7th bend and finished
second.
Romford Carthree was a head further back in third. (only two
qualified)
After an average start,
Unique Picture paced up well to the bend in the A4 and led
round. There was some trouble behind and
Billsdad Bill emerged in second place out of the second bend.
Billsdad Bill kept on ok, but could not get to the eventual
winner,
Unique Picture.
Journey Time looked to have every chance of going round in front
at the first bend, but moved off & was crowded. He can run a lot
better than this.
Droopys Mumba made all in the A3. He's made a good start to his
career, this being his 3rd win from 5 W'stow starts.
Bodell Mistress held ever chance, but could not get on terms.
Droopys Kan Kan set a good early pace in the third heat of
the Essex Records.com marathon. She didn't quite see out the trip,
yet only was beaten half a length.
Genesis Alix was clumsy as she challenged between the last two
bends, but still out-stayed
Droopys Kan Kan on the run in.
Snappy Girl was crowded at the 5th 7 6th bends and failed to
qualify for the final by just a head.
Snoozys Palace paced up well to lead in the A2, He moved aside
to let the others past on the run to the third bend and faded to
nothing on the run in.
Lockdale Duke turned handy and took it up from the third bend.
He has an impressive strike rate, 10/33 at the Stow.
Shelbourne Ryan stayed on at one pace for second.
Black As Coal had shown poor recent form going into the A1 and
was sent off 12/1 complete outside of the field.. They must have
swapped him for another dog, as the one that turned up tonight ran
away with the race.
Pennys Viva kept on and grabbed second. The favourite,
Reverse Pace, was smashed up at the firs bend.
Combined Team set a good pace in the S2 finale , but
surprisingly, could not contain
Droopys Delia, the eventual winner, on the run in.
