Noirs Ted (My
favourite dog) wins the best race on the card
Walthamstow Report 29 Nov 2007
Thursday's card was an open card, with some graded
fillers.
The 430m open went the way of the
favourite
Tanner Butler, but only just.
Ringview Rascal made the running for 429 1/2 metres and got
nailed on he line.
Swhimasdylan stayed on for third after a modest start.
Kildare Lark easily landed the hurdles open, despite missing his
break a bit.
Snazzy Time was a remote second and I'm amazed he was sent off
13/8, as he's been performing well below his best for some time now.
The Div 4 standard feature another close finish, as the early pace
setter
Paulees Prince was collared close to the line.
Thatchers Boy broke modestly, kept on and led near the line.
Bell Classic grabbed second near the line. He had a poor draw in
the coffin box and he's better from 6.
Horseshoe Moth made all for a comfortable success in the Div 2
standard for Jim Reynolds. This looked an improvement on his Romford
form.
Noirs Speedy broke modestly and finished a never nearer 3 1/2L
second.
Droopys Nelson set a scorching gallop in the 640m open.
Double Top took an eternity to get going and despite the
leader's stride shortening on the run in, the old screw could not,
or would not, get on terms.
Seanis Strike arrived at the Stow with a smart Lifford run on
his card. He missed the break, but paced up well to lead at the
first bend. He moved aside at the 3rd and faded out of it. There
will be other days for him. The star wars dog,
Jody Wan Kenobi, won in a photo, in the scramble for the line.
Noirs Denis kept on at one pace and lost out by a short head.
Only
5 went to post for the Div 2 standard, as Astute Gift was withdrawn
lame. This resulted in Ronaldos
Merit being sent off 4/7. Ronaldos
Merit broke well and made all for his 6th win from 12 Stow
starts. Barnfield
Leo stayed on and finished 3 1/2 lengths second.
Perceptive
Pacey made all to land the veterans open. He must be a joy to
own. This was his 31st win from 97 W'stow starts. Ronnies
Champion (sent off 2/5F) was modestly away, showed some pace to
the first bend, but was crowded. He kept on and went down by a
length. Westminster
Taj ran another solid race and may be one to keep on your side,
if he stands up to training.
Bell
Tempest made all in the novice stayers open. He is the most
beautiful looking dog, but has been a bit of a slow learner. He may
be able to build upon this. Rough
Quest took an eternity to get going and went down by 3/4 of a
length.
Droopys
Hamlet showed smart early pace in the puppy standard. He could
not sustain the gallop and faded after being headed at the 3rd bend.
I personally think he has been put in the deep end far too soon. He
has missed out on his graded education. He's a May 06 pup and could
be really good in the spring. Commander
Chief led at the 3rd bend and went on to score. Secretariat
looked a little one paced in second.
Cobra
Striking returned from a 2 month break and understandably needed
the race in the Div 1 standard. He showed some of his trademark
early pace, but faded from the 3rd bend. Noirs
Ted led off the second bend and looked set for a comfortable
victory. However, his stride shortened on the run in and he only won
by 3/4 of a length. Baran
Pedro moved off and was bumped at the first bend after a modest
start. He stayed on for second.
Katies
Crystal was quickly into her stride and she made all, taking a
middle course on the run up. She's 3 from 5, so is obviously going
the right way. Early
Notice ran off at the second bend and plugged on for second.
Sparkys
Stag started well in the S2 finale, but didn't see out the trip
and faded to the rear, after being headed at the 5th bend. Genesis
Sister started slowly, but came home best and led from the 5th
bend. Leaha
Chuita plugged on for second.
