Saturday's card featured the Racing Post hurdle
heats, the Greyhound Breeders Forum British Bred finals a
sprint, mixed in with the graded racing.
The
opening A7 saw a close finish as
Ballymac Daisy was swamped for pace after leading early. In the
scramble for the line,
Target Dan won by a head from
Silky Rose and
Many Memories was a further head back in third.
The P7 went to
Wise Butler, who led from the 2nd bend and was a somewhat one
paced winner.
Cutting Edge challenged at the 3rd and held every chance. She
went down by 1 3/4 lengths.
There's
very few sprints held at the Stow and a decent field turned up for
this one. Baran
Hawaii led round, but couldn't hold Perrys
Tango, who passed him on the run in. Perrys
Tango looked set to score, but appeared to have a look on the
run in and was passed close home. Horseshoe
Ping came with a strong run and equalled his own track record in
winning.
Another dreadful S3 followed.
Nikray Thunder showed some pace to the bend after a modest start
and led between the first two bends. He held on by a head from
Expert Plan.
Nevada
Blue set a very good benchmark to beat in the first heat of the
Racing Post hurdles. He was quickly into his stride and ran right
away from his rivals. He won by 6 1/4 lengths in a very decent
29.08. Dixies
Woods was modestly away, got a clear run, was not fluent at the
3rd bend and finished a distant second.
Tommy
Bahama made all in the second heat of the Racing Post hurdles
event. He was high at the first hurdle though. Custom
Paul kept on to finish 2 3/4L second.
Snazzy
Time led round in the third heat of the Racing Post hurdles comp
from a tricky looking trap 5 draw. Kildare
Lark was modestly away, moved off at the 2nd bend and ran on to
take it up from the 3rd bend. Snazzy
Time kept on for second, running better than of late, but
nowhere near his best.
The S1 saw a few leaders.
First up was
Sofem.
Airtech Spur took it up from the 3rd bend, but ran wide at the
last bend, allowing both the eventual winner,
Eye Onthe Jewel and
Sofem to come past.
Lurgan Head showed very decent early pace and made all. He's one
to keep on the right side of. His stride did shorten on the run in
and
Kingfisher Daisy reduced the margin to half a length.
Addington
Ruby just led round in the Greyhound Breeders Forum British Bred final.
As usual she trapped well, but lacked a bit of pace into the bend. Classy
Star didn't take the first two bends fluently, but came home
strongly and led on the run in. Pat Quinn, who is the Breeders Forum
chairman, was in attendance and presented the prize. Pat Quinn has
been in the game longer than most have us have been on the planet
and was in good form. Pat is involved in the breeding operation with
Pam Heasman at Christchurch. I believe that they have Blue Gooner up
there and Fireheight Dan has served bitches there too.
Droopys Kan Kan was an impressive winner of the second S1. She
led early and came away from her rivals to win in a fast 39.50.
Genesis Sister was best of the rest in second.
Courts Ad Peer was another impressive winner in the A3.
Seanis Wish was crowded on the run up, but kept on for second.
Siesta Romeo was not fluent at the 3rd bend, but still grabbed
3rd.
Killeacle Hobbs won the S2 finale, though not in the manner many
may have expected.
Sparkys Stag set a good pace up front, but didn't see out the
trip.
Killeacle Hobbs was clumsy at the 4th bend and ran on and led
from the 5th bend. My bitch,
Droopys Kestrel, stayed on late to grab second.
