Lenson
Earl sets the standard in the dual distance
Walthamstow Report
15 Nov 2007
Tuesday's card featured the Racing Post Dual
Distance comp, the Carlisle Brass British Bred stakes, the Festival
stayers stakes, the Maiden Derby semi finals and a few graded
fillers..
The opening race was an A6, which saw Lurgan
Legend show smart early pace on his debut. He failed to see out
the trip and So
Said He ran on and led from between the last two bends. This was
his second win from 8 starts. The favourite, Georges
Girl, came to challenge between the last two bends, but was
badly crowded. Baran
Miami finished well for second after easing at the first two
bends.
In the first heat of the Racing Post Dual
Distance, Truly
Gold ran middle from trap four, leaving a nice gap for Droopys
Mate from trap 5. Droopys
Mate got to the bend between A
Million Miles and Clonbrin
Mai and showed the best bottle at the bend and quickened clear.
He looked set for a comfortable win, but ran wide at the last bend
and held on by just a head. Danas
Black started very slowly, but railed well to emerge in second
out of the second bend. He kept on well for second. A
Million Miles moved off and was crowded at the second bend, but
kept on and finished 3rd. He did show a bit of an odd action though.
In
the first heat of the British Bred stakes, Westmead
Alec showed the best pace and led round. Blonde
Buzz ran on well and passed him with ease at the third bend. He
really grabbed the ground on the home straight and was a decent
winner. Nightshade
grabbed second from Nightshade
on the run in.
When Fear
Robben turned in front in the first heat of the Festival stayers
stakes, many would have expected him to go on and score. However, he
never got away from the field and eased at the 5th bend. Heavy
Weather hit the front at the 5th bend and went on to win by 2
1/2 lengths from Fear
Robben. Butterbridge
Ali seems to have lost his early pace and he plugged on for
third here.
Lenson
Earl ran out a very impressive winner of the second heat of the
Racing Post Dual Distance comp. He got a nice clear run round the
first two turns and ran right away from his field and recorded a
fast 28.59. Molly
Alice ran a decent race in second, but was not in the same
league as the winner. Flying
Jack showed some pace to the first bend after a modest start and
kept on for third.
Toosey
Blue was sent off a short priced favourite in the second heat of the British Bred
stakes. He didn't break well, but was quickly into his stride. He
led at the first bend and ran out a very decent winner. After a
modest start, Versailles
kept on best of the rest for second.
Lenson
Joker made all and was a decent winner of the second heat of the Festival stayers
stakes. He recorded a very decent sectional of 14.24 and his
winning time was a fast 39.37. Tiger
Scot followed his home a remote second, 7 lengths behind.
In
the first semi final of the Maiden Derby, Ronnies
Hotstuff set the early pace. Despite turning a close second, Barnfield
Woody took an eternity to put in a challenge and only led near
the line. Millwards
Summit cam home well and grabbed second from the fading Ronnies
Hotstuff.
Baran
Pedro was sent off 4/6 jolly after the withdrawal of Unique
Wonder. Bodell
Mistress set a scorching early gallop and Baran
Pedro took his time to get to put a challenge in. He barged his
way through at the third bend, as Bodell
Mistress faded and ran out a decent winner. Tilly
kept on and finished second.
Discreet
Cat and Directors
Chair both broke very well in the third heat of the Festival stayers
stakes. Directors
Chair led from the second bend and always held the upper hand.
Despite easing at the 5th bend, Big
Brett Coal's class got him past Discreet
Cat to grab second qualifying place.
Wheres
The Girls started well and made all in the third heat of the
Racing Post Dual Distance comp. The favvy Lethal
Frankie, drifted off at the second bend and put paid to his own
chances and those of Comeback
on his outside. Miselar
Custard also drifted off and was crowded at the second bend, but
kept on for second.
Wheres
Yer Man and Dilemmas
Flight started best in the third heat of the British Bred
stakes. Dilemmas
Flight lost the plot at the second bend and Wheres
Yer Man led from the second bend. Crying
Shame cam off the rails and was crowded at the first bend, but
he rode the bump well and kept on for second.
Larkhill
Jackie put in a very good run indeed to land the A1. She skewed
at the traps, but was quickly into her stride and made all. There
was trouble behind her at the first bend. Happy
Memories was very brave at the first bend and barged her way
through to take second. She held that position, but Blackstone
Billy looked likely to get involved in the race. When going for
a gap that wasn't really there at the third bend, he was crowded out
of it.
The usual dreadful 640 race closed the card
and we saw a few different leaders. Eye
Onthe Flyer was first up. Wise
Digger took over at the second bend. Eye
Onthe Flyer took it up at the last bend and looked set to score.
Off
Course timed his run to perfection and led near the line.
