Tuesday's card was another wonderful evening's
racing, courtesy of the Racing Post festival. The comps featured
tonight were the three Scurry semi finals, the ToteSport puppy
stakes and the Racing Post festival puppy stayers event.
The opening A7 saw
Femine Fatale make all to win in 29.06, on what was obviously a
fast surface.
Steeple Rd Blond broke modestly, drove the first 2 bends well
and kept on for second.
The first semi final of the Scurry saw the favourite,
Black Taxi, from a plum trap one draw, make all. Like many races
over this distance, the race was largely decided on the draw and the
second
Fivestar Oak, could easily have reversed the placings, had the
draw been reversed. (2 qualified)
The first heat of the ToteSport puppy stakes saw a shock result.
Vito Blue cracked out and made all. She had previously won 2
from 4, including an A1 at Sittingbourne. The favvy
Westmead Kewell qualified in second, but never was travelling
fluently. (2 qualified)
The first heat of the Racing Post festival puppy stayers comp was
reduced to just 4 runners.
Droopys Attracta set the early pace, but was quickly outpaced by
the favourite
Droopys Totti, who led on the run to the third bend. He did not
look particularly impressive to the eye, but the winning time was a
decent 39.30, albeit on fast ground.
Droopys Attracta plugged on for second. (2 qualified)
In a race lacking early pace,
Cranham Girl made all in this A6. She held on by just a head
from
Ringtale Lad.
Perceptive Pacey put in another very good run in the second semi
final of the Scurry, but he could not contain
Legal Major, who showed great pace down the back straight and
took it up from he third bend.
Perceptive Pacey kept on to hold second qualifying place.
Ronnies Hustle put in a very classy run in the ToteSport puppy
stakes heat 2. He broke well and put daylight between himself and
his rivals. He won by 5 3/4 lengths in an impressive 28.53.
Westmead Tina was out with the washing early doors and only
grabbed second qualifying place late on.
Brians Bud set the early pace in the Racing Post festival puppy
stayers 2nd heat, but was swamped for pace at the 5th bend and faded
out of contention.
Unique Picture hit the front very briefly at the 5th bend, but
he did not see which way the eventual winner,
Rebourne Again, went.
Rebourne Again was not at all fluent at the bends, but showed a
real turn of speed down the back straight and beat this modest field
with consummate ease.
Unique Picture held on for the second qualifying place.
Blue Rizzler is a bit inconsistent, though is a fast dog when
everything clicks. He put his best foot forward tonight (after I'd
stopped backing him) and made all in a decent 28.74.
Bell Classic moved off at the second bend and stayed on for
second.
The third semi final of the Scurry was a really good race.
Razldazl Eddie broke superbly and made all.
Westmead Prince also ran well, going down by just half a length.
Mr Savva is one of the best at getting them to produce their best in
finals and I would not be at all surprised to see these placings
reversed in the final.
The third heat of the Racing Post festival puppy stayers comp saw
Dangerous Lady made all. This was a big step up on her previous
form.
Rough Rose stayed on for second.
Ask The Question was very disappointing and did not look sound.
Mustang Garcia was another very impressive winner in the
ToteSport puppy stakes heat 3. He was quickly into his stride and
always in command. This boy has a 28.58 at Clonmel and must have
cost a packet. He certainly looks a classy recruit.
Journey Back ran a decent race to qualify for second, but looks
a bit outclassed in the event.
The S3 finale was the normal desperate affair.
Center Lad eventually came through and led on the line. He beat
Dubai Divine by a short head.
Dubai Divine ran wide at the last bend, which was probably the
telling factor.
