Thursday's was mainly an open card with graded
fillers.
Missed the first, traffic was a nightmare.
Journey Time showed sparkling early pace and led up in the Div 2
puppy open. However class told and he was swept aside by
Droopys Obafemi, who took over from the 3rd bend.
A Million Maid ran a bit wide, but stayed on for second.
Journey Time didn't do anything wrong, he just found the step up
from A5 a bridge or two so far.
Julies Protege broke well in the Div 2 stayers and made all.
Lughill Sammy turned 2nd and held every chance, but could not,
or would not close the gap.
Heavy Weather ran modestly in 4th and the other joint favvy
Go Marco Polo, was out with the washing early on and made some
late ground.
Riverside Lark returned from a 57 day break in the first 430m
open, but there was no signs of him needing the race. he was quickly
away and made all.
Black Taxi moved off at the second bend and kept on for second.
Milldean Buster was quick away in the Div 2 open and made all.
His task was made easier as
Barnfield Joe turned left out of the traps from his inside and
put paid to the chances of a few in the middle.
Farloe Rooney showed some pace from the first bend and held on
for second as he fade near the line.
The marathon was not a memorable race.
Centaur Fuji completely missed the break.
Romford Carthree hit the front down the back straight for the
final time and it proved to be far too early for him.
Centaur Fuji cam to join in at the 7th bend and it was slow
motion from that point as
Centaur Fuji and
Romford Carthree ran as if the hare was not present.
En It picked them up on the run in.
In the
hurdles open, Baran
Geronimo had the race at his mercy when taking it up down the
back straight, but he dwelt and threw the race away. Firm
Handed took up the invitation and led from between the last two
bends. Broadacres
Dan ran towards the rails and was crowded from his trap 5 draw,
he showed some pace down the back straight and kept on for second.
Dangerous
Lady set the early pace in the Div 1 puppy open. Calzaghe
Ted arrived without a trial and after getting a clear run early,
showed some decent pace to take it up from the third bend. Dangerous
Lady kept on for second.
The outsider Sparkys
Stag towed them along in the S1, but was never going to stay in
front and was swamped for pace near the 5th bend and was outclassed.
After a slow start, Lode
Star ran on and led from the 5th bend, winning by 3L deom Silbury
Squirrel, who stayed on, but showed some high tail action.
Horseshoe
Ping set a scorching gallop in the Div 1 430m open, but ran out
of gas and was caught on the line by Milldean
Flash. This was Milldean
Flash's 13th win from 25 W'stow starts. Legal
Major gallantly kept on for 3rd.
Sherries
Boy was a surprise winner in the Div one stayers race. There was
no fluke about it, as he was quickly away and made all. Big
Brett Coal backed off at the first bend, but plugged on for
second. Sonic
Sensation didn't look sound and tailed the field.
Returning
from a layoff, Astute
Gift made all in the Div one standard. This was his 14th win at
the track from 32 starts. Lenson
Earl ran on well for 2nd. Noirs
Ted ran a lifeless race and Vipar
Totti missed the break and was badly crowded at the first bend.
