Classy pups on show,
with an open looking final on Saturday to look forward to.
Walthamstow Report
02 Oct 2007
Tuesday's was a very poor graded meeting.
Unlikely
Sam showed the best early pace in a field of slow starters in
the opening A9, but slowed at the bends. Alders
Harry led briefly at the second, but faded from the 4th bend
after being headed at half way. Woodberry
Girl made the most of her rails draw and led from half way. Kensington
Mal ran wide at the bends and kept on for second.
The 2nd A9 again contained no early pace and Megusta
Manners led on the run up after an average break, and made all. Rooster
Feathers plugged on to finish 2nd.
There were
lots of poor jumpers in the hurdles and despite some deliberate
jumps, Dannys
Do Do made all the running. Starfire
Flyer plugged on for second. King
Forever was amazingly sent off 2/1 JF after a poor display of
hurdling on his debut. He jumped very very high and it looks
unlikely that he will make it over hurdles.
There
was another field of slow starters assembled for the A8. (slow dogs,
really) After an average start, Ringtale
Lad made all. Droopys
Delia started very slowly and stayed on for second. I managed to
bet on a dog in the wrong race here, thankfully, it was only a small
bet.
In the second A8, I bet on the dog I thought I
had in the previous race and thankfully he did the business. He did
it in some style too. Son
Of Iris produced a decent start and despite running wide at the
bends, had plenty in hand of his lowly rivals, winning by just over
5 lengths. Gilgarry
Rebel had towed him along to half way. He plodded on for second after
Son
Of Iris swept by.
Canary
Tide led up in the A7, but failed to sustain the gallop and
faded on the run in after being headed between the last two bends. Jo
Junior took it up and landed another winning nap for the Racing
Post's Tony Bullen.
Only 5 went
to post in the 2nd A7 as Lochbo Buddy was a NR. Patch
made all and held on by a diminishing half a length. True
Thomas ran middle from trap one and he and and Granary
Smurf came together on the run up. Tsali
Shearer got a nice run from trap 3 and plugged on for 2nd.
Silbury
Squirrel made all in the S2. The position of his tail suggested
he wasn't that comfortable, but none of his rivals were good enough
to challenge. Honcho
Dan was moderate from the 5th bend, but still managed to finish
2nd. Scooter
Man ran a poor race in third.
Race 9 and we
were up to the heady heights of A7. This was an incident paced race.
Jumokee
Prince started slowly, but paced up to the bend and led from the
2nd bend. With the race at his mercy, he cramped on the run in.
Despite running off and being crowded at the first, Offshore
Mill plugged on and led on the run in, for his first win from 11
starts. Annandale
Dixie eased at the 3rd, but still kept on and lost out in the
photo.
Rusheen
Roy led up in the A6. Directors
Perk clipped his heels off the second and he lost his momentum
and went back through the field. Kid
Joker and Clear
Decision had a good buckle and Clear
Decision got on top and led from the 3/4, winning by a length
and a quarter. Directors
Perk stayed on for third.
Larkhill
Jackie was quickly away and made all in the second A6. She ran
wide at the last bend and won by a length. Bold
Talent was modestly away, ran wide at the first bend and stayed
on for second.
Molly
Alice led round in the A4. After being headed at the 3rd bend by
Ballymac
Delta, her chance looked to be gone. However, she gamely kept on
and the leader faded on the run in and she re-gained the lead an won
the race. Silbury
Ruby stayed on from well off the pace for second. Droopys
Lotto looked set to turn handy, but was badly impeded off the
second bend.
