Consistent Westmead
Mary continues her progression
Walthamstow Report
18 Sep 2007
Tuesday's was an appalling low level graded card.
Nanosecond was sent off 6/4 jolly in the opener (A9), but was
led up by
Drifting Light.
Nanosecond turned handy and came with a strong run to take it up
between the last two turns. This was another winner for the in-form
Kelly Mullins kennel.
Witches Petal started slowly and was crowded on the run up. He
kept on and narrowly grabbed second, as
Drifting Light tired on the run in.
The second
A9 was a nonsense of a race.
Mixed Manners dwelt at every opportunity and interfered with
most of the field at some point.
Mount Hill Boy fell out of the traps, but benefited from all the
trouble up front and led on the run in.
The H2 saw
King Forever sent off 6/4 fav, despite only having a single
hurdle trial. OK, he was different gravy on the flat, but we have
seen many inexperienced dogs come unstuck in their early hurdle
races. While he showed plenty of pace, he spent a very long time in
the air over the hurdles. He'd have cleared Beechers Brook at
Aintree with some of these jumps!
Omeugo Mison started slowly and ran on and led from the third
bend.
Dark Crystal allegedly returned from a seasonal rest in the A9.
(Alleged season date 01 Aug 07) I must say that I have my doubts
about this. She flew out of the traps and made all. She did tire a
little on the run in, but did not run like any other bitch I have
seen running back from short seasonal rest.
Benro Rocks returned from a real season and kept on ok for
second.
Droopys Delia was also returning from season (probably a real
one) in the A8 and showed good early pace, before running wide at
the last bend and tiring on the run in.
Cutting Edge started slowly, but came home well and led on the
run in.
Centaur Cappo made all in the A7 for a decisive win. This was
his first win at the track from 9 starts and he broke 29 seconds.
(Stewards!)
Tadgells Ollie started slowly, ran middle, showed some pace to
the 1st bend and kept on for second.
Not A Trace started best and led up in the S3. His stamina gave
out and he faded from the 5th bend.
Eye Onthe Flyer started slowly, was clumsy at the 4th bend and
took it up from between the last two bends. He went on to win by 4
lengths.
Westmead Mary made all in the A5.
Droopys Lotto showed plenty of promise in second. He showed good
pace down the back straight, but was clumsy at the 3rd bend.
Genesis Outlaw thought he could feel it coming in the air
tonight, but he was dragged back at the 2nd bend after turning
handy.
Any Ceilidh led up in the A4, until easing at the 3rd bend.
Hillcross Silk ran on and led from the third bend.
Greenfield Post fell out of the traps, but came home well, going
down by a neck.
Woodhill
Alfie broke well and made all the running in the A3. Woodhill
Alfie, trained by Peter Rich, was formerly A1 at Romford and had
a fair 11/42 win record there. This was his 2nd win from 5
Walthamstow starts. Tipsy
Tarquin broke modestly and stayed on for second.
Eye
Onthe Flame and Form
Of Love started well in the A2. Eye
Onthe Flame took the bend well and led round, whereas Form
Of Love didn't and was badly crowded at the second bend. Synone
Rubin turned handy behind and Eye
Onthe Flame kindly moved aside at halfway and Synone
Rubin took advantage of the invitation and paced up well and led
from halfway. This was only Synone
Rubin's 2nd from 10 starts at Walthamstow. He previously
competed in open races up to 575m. (only winning one 575m open at
Romford in slow time.
Tinky
Rolls started well in the S2 finale, but he considered popping
in the Ascot suite for a buffet and totally lost the plot between
the 1st two bends. This gave Toosey
Tina a clear run and she took up the running. Headleys
Cross was running all over her going down the the 5th bend, but
was clumsy, crowded, lost momentum and the race. He looked twice the
size of Toosey
Tina and really should have won.
