Thursday's card was an ordinary graded card and a
bit of a come down after Tuesday's brilliant card. They rolled the
track yesterday, so the conditions were somewhere near normal.
Egmont
Pedro started averagely and showed some good EP to lead in the
opening A9. He ran a bit wide and his stride shortened nearing the
3rd bend. Fyfield
Prince ran to the rails and was crowded at the start, but still
showed decent pace into the bend. He turned 2nd and took up the lead
between the last two bends, as the leader tired. He didn't really
impress and didn't come away from the field. Woodberry
Girl started modestly, showed some pace to the 3rd bend and kept
on for second.
Aero
Vesuvio showed decent pace and was waiting and pulling out more
at will. He made a mistake at the last hurdle and Lassana
Beara took it up. Aero
Vesuvio had a mild tear-up near the line. ca 95 % of the time,
the RM turns a blind eye at these minor indiscretions. Sadly, not on
this occasion, he red carded one of the dogs I had taken a shine to.
He did have a proper tear up after the line, but that's allowed,
isn't it? I've said a few times before, that Aero
Vesuvio will make a lovely pet, he's a real character. To

Funky
Lass led early and made all in the A8. She ran her trials
through season and her Irish form equated to ca A5 by my reckoning.
She can progress further. Ballyegan
Geri turned second, but faded on the run in. Trailer
Dawn started slowly and kept on and grabbed second.
The
S4 was not a good race. Courage
Best led early, but weakened from between the last two bends. Xclusive
Express turned handy, took it up at the last, as Courage
Best faded, but was run out of it by the staying on Beltra
Delta, who led near the line.
Raise
Your Game was led on the run up in the A7 by Xamax
Capel, but showed the between pace to take it up between the
first two bends. Raise
Your Game did get a particularly clear run as Genesis
Alix dived straight to the rails and hammered into the well bred
debutant Moscow
Megan. Moscow
Megan is by Moscow Sandy, the 2006 Arc finalist. Genesis
Alix showed some pace to the first and was erratic at the second
bend. Vick
Way tracked cleverly at the second bend to avoid him and kept on
for second.. The winning time of 29.40 was a decent one for the
grade.
In a field of best starters, So
Said He showed the best pace to lead on the run up in the P6. Noirs
Denis started modestly and unleashed a good burst of speed. He
drove the bend well and took it up from off the second bend. He won
very well in a decent 29.23. So
Said He got tired, ran wide at the last bend and faded on the
run in. Bold
Talent started slowly and was wide and a bit slow rounding the
first two turns. He stayed on ok from off the pace and grabbed
second on the run in.
Changing
Lanes paced up well in the P5, but lost the plot rounding the
first two turns. Thats
My Boy also started well, but moved off at the second bend and
was passed at half way. Moscow
Max started slowly on his debut and wound the pace up nearing
the first bend. He got a lovely clear run and led from half way.
This was a decent debut. He's from the same litter as Moscow
Megan, who I mentioned earlier. Thats
My Boy kept on ok and finished 2 1/2 lengths second.
True
Frankie and Roancarrig
View paced up well and together led the field in the S1. Roancarrig
View won the battle for the lead at the 3rd bend. Aranock
Sand started slowly and moved off at the 2nd bend. He loomed
round handy and the writing looked to be on the wall. Aranock
Sand showed a real burst of pace down the far side for the final
time, he took it up at the 5th bend and ran right away. True
Frankie gamely kept on and grabbed second on the run in.
Ardagh
Mike returned from a 208 day lay off and made all the land he
A4. The former Nottingham futurity winner has obviously had his
troubles. He'd be liable to 'bounce' next time. Jim
The Butcher challenged at the 3rd bend and kept on for second.
Crying
Shame produced a smash break and made all in the A3. Lemon
Figo paced up quite well, moved off at half way and faded from
the third bend. Lockdale
Lady was average away and kept on for second.
Ortuna
broke well and made all in the A2. She was a bit slow round the
first two turns, but straightened up and galloped on well off the
second bend. Synone
Rubin showed good pace down the back straight and held every
chance. Lockdale
Duke stayed on ok for third.
Julies
Protege continued her rich vein of form and was an impressive
winner of the A1. She started really well and made all to land her
4th win in her last 5 starts and her first A1. Ronaldos
Merit stumbled at the start, got a clear run and kept on,
without ever looking likely to get on terms with the leader. He was
out-stayed on the run in by Vigorous
Whitney, who came home well after a poor start.
Toosey
Tina trapped well in the S2 finale, but was out-paced by Shortfall
on the run to the turn. Toosey
Tina got a good run round the first two turns and patiently
waited for the leader to tire! (well, that's what it looked like) Toosey
Tina took it up at the 5th bend and sent favourite punters home
happy. Shortfall
finished 5 3/4 lengths second.
