Milldean
shows blinding early pace and flashes to another win
Walthamstow Report
26 July 2007
Thursday's card was an ok open card, with a few
moderate maidens.
Boy
Becca showed the best EP in the opening 435 open and made all. Perceptive
Pacey turned with every chance and went down by half a length.
The
hurdles open was a messy event. Kildare
Lark just about got the front at the first bend. Blackmagic
Jamie turned handy and challenged from half way. However, he had
a major dwell up and threw the race away. Custom
Paul was bumped at the first bend, but kept on to join in, up
front. Kildare
Lark was probably the only one putting it in and he won the race
unimpressively.
Like
Hot Cakes was sent off a ridiculous 1/2 shot in the Novice
stayers event. Clonard
Pet made much of the early running and led until fading from
between the last two bends. Girl
Next Door had run wide on the straights, but hit the front at
the 5th bend. Airtech
Avit was slow away, showed some pace to the third bend and
grabbed the lead near the line.
The Div 3 maiden
went to Blakes
Gooner. He was sent off a generous looking 5-1 shot, having
competed at a decent level at Wimbledon. In a field of slow starters,
he broke ok and led at the first and made all in a pedestrian 29.71.
Journey
Back was modestly away and moved off at the bends before
plodding on for second.
The Div 2 puppy race saw
another all the way winner in Heavy
Weather. He came away together with Ballymac
Rita and showed the better determination to make all. Ballymac
Rita kept on at the same pace in second, and was a bit disappointing.
The
marathon looked to be a match between Centaur
Iris and Ceroc
Salsa beforehand and that's just how the race turned out. True
Frankie led for a couple of bends, before Centaur
Iris showed the better pace to take it up at the 3rd bend. Ceroc
Salsa turned handy after a modest start, but was never striding
out properly and finished 3 1/2 lengths second.
Winch
Whippet showed searing early pace in the Div 2 maiden. After a
slow start, Poacher
Man paced up and followed him round. Winch
Whippet ran wide at the last bend, allowing Poacher
Man to seize the initiative on the run in. Lady
Clarissa was crowded on the run up an plodded on for third.
Milldean
Flash broke level with the field in the Div 2 standard and
showed the best EP to get to the front. Fear
Becks again flew down the back straight and reduced the margin
to a neck. This was an impressive 9th win from 19 starts for Milldean
Flash. This October 2004 son of Premier County, did an
impressive run around Kilkenny before joining Seamus Cahill.
Lughill
Sammy led up and made all in the Div 1 Grand Prix trial stakes.
He only just got home however, by a fast diminishing head from the
staying on Rotarian.
Milldean
Buster was another impressive winner from the Cahill kennel. He
took a few strides to get into gear and flew to the bend and made
all. Emporio
Apollo ran on well for second.
Omega
Wink trapped well in the Div 1 marathon, but was outpaced on the
run to the first bend by Melon
Twister. Melon
Twister led until between the last two bends and faded, failing
to see out the trip. Rosshill
View stayed on strongly and led between the last two bends,
despite being crowded at the 3rd bend. Mitzie
was an unlucky loser, She was badly crowded at the second bend and
stayed on well for second. I reckon she lost ca 6 lengths and of
course, valuable momentum.
Noirs
Ted cracked out of the boxes and led up in the Div 1 standard.
He maybe bounced here, as he faded on the run in. Courts
Ad Queen got a good run on the inside, as Tanner
Butler ran rails from the traps and impeded Shelbourne
Ryan at the start. Courts
Ad Queen came home full of running. This was an impressive 12th
open win, and 15th win in total, from 45 starts.
Discreet
Cat was sent off 2/5F in the Div 2 Grand Prix trial stakes and
started well and made all. Alexanders
Pride started fairly well, but checked and eased at a number of
bends, but kept on gallantly for second. Ellron
turned second and faded from the 5th bend.
