In
the opening P9, Remember
Bill broke well and led until the run in. The favourite, Chunky,
took plenty of time to get his bulky frame into gear bad gradually
got to the leader and finally passed him on the run in.
Ants
Gunner made all to land the A8. He moved off on the back
straight, but faced little opposition here. Roswell
Zodiac skewed at the traps and lost a couple of lengths. He also
ran wide and finally stayed on to finish a length and a half second.
The
H1 was a messy affair. Gantara
started well and led up. Not for the first time, he dwelt for
England and slung the race away. Wol
led for a while on the back straight and was also not getting on
with the job. Four
Minutes stuck on the rails and took up the invitation. Lockdale
Lord was surprisingly sent off favourite on his hurdles debut.
Those who took a chance did not get a run for their money. The
clue was on the racecard.
Sofem
was returning from season in the first A7 and could be expected to
have benefited from this race. However, such was the weak nature of
this race, that she was sent off 9/4F. Try
She Will towed her up till the 3rd bend, before making way. Sofem
took up the invitation. Joe
Blue plodded on for second.
Blackmagic
Rose led round in the 2nd A7, but eased at the 3rd bend and gave
away the lead and the race. Beat
Them King showed some promise last time on his debut and
progressed a little to land this. I was not convinced that his mind
was totally on the job, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt on
only his second race.
In the third A7, the old Bags
plodder Kensington
Court looked set to make all, until Genesis
Sister woke up/consented to get on with it at the third
bend.
Droopys
Majella made nearly all the running in the S1. Bell
Imperial bottled it/was forced to check, when challenging at the
5th bend and after hitting the front momentarily on the run in, was
gunned down close to the line, by the staying on Shelbourne
Thesa.
Ballymac
Daisy made all for a comfortable success in the A6. The favvy, Hoylake
Claire, was slow away and crowded at the second bend. She
plugged on for second.
Roll
Over Moll broke best and led round in the A5. Arry
Olt turned close behind and took an eternity to get to the
front. He took it up at the 4th bend and had yet another dwell up
and presented the race back to Roll
Over Moll, going down by a neck.
Hypatia
Blue returned from season with an impressive win. This
progressive bitch looks destined for the top grade. She is blessed
with early pace and this was her 3rd win from 11 starts. Cassie
ran ok in second.
Lockdale
Lady was another impressive trap to line winner in the A4. Twilight
Fantasy started very slowly and stayed on from off the pace for
second. Julies
Protege showed some pace to the third bend, but checked up. Lagile
Tomo showed a little promise, before fading at the 4th bend.
Lockwood
Littljo paced up well and led early doors in the A3. He railed
well at the first two bends, but as he neared the 3rd bend, regular race goers
(and regular reader's) knew what would happen next. A major check
up, of course, not at all nice to watch, week after week. January
Student also paced up well and had time to moved off on the back
straight, and run wide at the last bend, before going on to score. Call
Again was crowded at the 2nd bend after a slow start, and stayed
on for second.
True
Frankie broke well in the S2 finale and led up. His stride
shortened from the 5th and while Lode
Star always looked likely to get on top, he took his time before
consenting to put his best foot forward. He led near the line.
