Thursday's card was a decent open card, with a few
graded fillers.
Funny
Poppet led up in the opener (435 OR) and led until Pork
Pie outpaced her from between the last two bends. Myella
Honcho swung round with every chance, but was far from fluent at
the bends.
Strong
Flow made most of the running in the hurdles open, but was
gunned down by Uptown
King, who showed some decent middle pace and led near the line. Uptown
King took a middle course on the run up and ran a bit wide at a
few bends. He could improve a fair bit from his first Walthamstow
visit.
There was plenty of trouble on the run to
the first bend in the Div 2 maiden. Uptown
King emerged as the leader out of the second bend. Marathon
Girl avoided the early bother after a slow start and stayed on
to lead at the 3/4 and pulled away.
Bell
Imperial made all in the novice stayers. Night
Night loomed up to challenge at the 5th bend, but was one paced
from that point and held on for second. Droopys
Boss made a particularly slow start, ran wide at the 2nd bend
and could never get on terms, despite staying on.
Cobra
Striking added yet another victory to his already impressive
record at the Stow. How on earth he is allowed to run in Division 2
completely baffles me. He breaks quickly as regular as clockwork. Killer
Keane returned after his exploits in the Derby and turned handy
and held every chance in second.
Boy
Becca made all to land the A3. Lockdale
Duke held every chance and went down by a length.
Milldean
Buster was an impressive winner of the puppy standard. After an
average start, he showed some early pace and led at the first and
made all. Headford
County and Ballymac
Rita had a good battle for second, with Headford
County coming out on top for second..
In the
A2, Adamant
Laser ran wide at the first and impeded Zu
Yi. This allowed Shelbourne
Ryan a clear run and he routed the field, winning by seven
lengths.
Special
Deal led on the sraw and made all, despite clipping the rails at
the first bend. There was trouble between Reverse
Pace and Tanner
Butler at the first and Fenland
Lark stayed on out of the pack to finish second. Addington
Ruby checked at the 3rd, when in second place and lost second on
the run in.
Whitegate
Jet cracked out and made all in the finale (640 open). Coolanga
Flyer turned handy in behind and could never quite get on terms.
Go
Princess started slowly, check at the 3/4 and ran poorly.
