Thursday's card was a decent open race card, with
a few graded fillers.
Ortuna
made all in the opening P6 and rode a first bend bump before going
on to score. Terry
My Pal ran to the rails and was bumped at the start and kept on
for second.
Snazzy
Time added yet another win to his tally when making all to land
the hurdles event. This was his 20th win from 48 starts, 17 of them
being opens. Flamboyant
Hero showed some decent pace in behind and should win plenty of
hurdle races, particularly when avoiding Snazzy
Time.
All
Clued Up showed his usual smart burst of early after an average
start and hit the front on the run to the bend. He was caught in
front by Tiger
Scot, who got a clear run round the first two bends, showed some
pace on the back straight and led on the run in. All
Clued Up should strip fitter next time.
Myella
Honcho paced up well in the 435 race, but was another to fade a
bit after a break. Perceptive
Pacey drove the first two bends well and led at the third. Pork
Pie broke poorly and was smashed up at the bend.
Courts
Ad Queen led up in the Division 3 standard, but could not
sustain the gallop and first Pacey
Macy went past him, showing some nice middle pace. Pacey
Macy ran wide at the 4th and was outstayed by Raging
Jack, who took it up at the 4th.
Ballymac
Rita broke best and led round in the puppy standard. Kinda
Sure took over and led from 1/2 way, until fading after
being swamped for pace by Droopys
Mate. Droopys
Mate leaves himself a bit to do after his slow starts, but has
plenty of pace.
Adamant
Laser is blessed with superb early pace and he wooshed to the
front in the maiden. There were plenty of disappointing efforts in
behind and Zu
Yi kept on best of them to finish second. Adamant
Laser held on by 3/4 of a length.
Shelbourne
Laura took off in the stayers event. She broke best, moved off
between the first two bends and routed his field to win in a fast
39.47. Go
Princess kept on gallantly for second. Alexanders
Pride was not fluent at the bends and still managed third. Roswell
Bluesky eased at the bends and was well beaten.
Astute
Gift returned to the Stow after being knocked out of the derby.
He ran miles blow his form. He broke very poorly and was badly
crowded off the second bend. Fear
Mykeo smashed out of the traps, but eased and slowed going into
the first bend and was badly crowded . This resulted in Kindred
Sparky getting a lovely clear run and despite running wide at
the last bend, he went on to score. Milldean
Flash turned handy, but could not get on terms.
Sir
Alf toed them along for a few bends in the veterans, until
fading at the 4th after being headed at the 3rd. In a complete
reversal of the form from last week, Clonbrin
Show won the race, leading at the 3rd bend. January
Tiger was slow away and didn't reproduce his good run from last
week. Farloe
Focus showed some middle pace and kept on for second.
Cash
For Kate was a drifter in the ring prior to the marathon. Snappy
Girl broke fast and led until the 7th bend. After wobbling at
the first bend, Cash
For Kate ran on and led at the 7th bend and went on for a fairly
comfortable success. Mitzie
stayed on for second, after being crowded at the first bend.
Lockdale
Duke broke modestly in the A4, but showed a nice burst of early
pace to lead. Clonbrin
Mai broke modestly and checked at the second bend. She ran on
and picked up Lockdale
Duke on the line.
In the division1 standard,
Who
Needs Wings produced one of his better breaks. He looked set for
a comfortable success, but was made to pull out plenty as first Snoozys
Palace and then Droopys
Fabregas threatened to catch him. It seemed like Who
Needs Wings was a bit below his best to me.
Discreet
Cat was absolutely slung in, in the novice stayers. He routed
this field, but he wasn't tested and we didn't really see if he was
a decent stayer in the making..
