GetitReady
was not waiting around tonight to exert his authority. The
bookmakers were bemused by his selection in the first race, Nelsons
Patch. Nelsons
Patch read the script, and after a modest break, led at the
third bend and held on. Cooly
Captain stayed on and went down by a short head. Anyone who does
not know Gerry should watch the clips here :- http://www.smashiton.com/Wstow/GetItReady.htm
Gerry is one of the top judges at the Stow and is a very nice man as
well.
The 2nd race was a grim H2. Star
Caddy Man was the first leader, followed by Jockers.
Finally, Windgap
Henry stayed on and led on the run in.
In a
poor A9, Bright
Star made all. She took a middle course and never saw
another rival. Deans
Lu was slow away, showed some pace to the first and kept on for
second.
In the grim A8, the favourite looked cooked
as Control
The Bill stole an early lead. Scorpio
Skippy grabbed him right on the line.
The
bookies were done again in the A7 as London
Pride was another favvy to lead on the line. The bizarrely named
Youre
Some Tulip was de-flowered near the line.
A
Bit Tricky was having his 100th race. He tried his utmost and
after a slow start, put it down on the run to the line. However, he
went down by a length and a quarter to Rough
Venus. Rough
Venus had time to check and ease at a few bends before going on
to score.
In the A6, Feedback
showed plenty of pace after returning from a long layoff. Feedback
towed them along till the 3rd bend and faded on the run in. Too
Many Miles took over at this point and went on to score. Marathon
Girl had a check up at the 1st bend and still managed third. Granard
Sam eased at the 3rd and has been out of sorts for a very long
while.
Coolanga
Flyer smashed out and made all in the S1 in a fast 39.71. Double
Top was very slow away, but ran on well for second.
Only
five went to post for the A3, yet they were checking and easing all
over the place in behind. This is anything but un-common at
Walthamstow. (I can't believe that it's very different at other
tracks) The two "sound" greyhounds fought out the finish. Wise
Digger was slow away, paced up , moved off at half way and led
until running off at the last bend. Chase
The Dream was very slow away and kept on to lead on the
run in.
Zu
Yi destroyed his rivals in the second A3. Now not many people
know this, but Zu Yi was king of the Shang dynasty of China for 19
years. (You can thrill your mate(s) at the Stow with this fact next
week! or perhaps not) He's a fair dog when it all clicks.
In
the A2, Buckland
Wally paced up well and naused the favourite Treacle
Rose to the third bend. Treacle
Rose was unfortunately KO'd at the third. King
Forever was the benefactor and he took up the running at the
third bend.
Mr Bullen deserted his old favourite War
Of Attrition in the A1. Miss
Modesty led until fading on the run in. Reverse
Pace showed plenty of pace and was clumsy as he challenged at
the 3/4. War
Of Attrition benefited from the trouble and led near
the line.
In the S2 finale, Tinky
Rolls was a predictable leader. Similarly predictable, was the
fact that she would fade and be taken near the 5th bend, unless
there was a pile-up in behind. In a poor race, Ebony
Ocean came from out of the clouds to grab the lead near the
line.
