Only five ran in the opening A7. Target
Dan showed the best early and led until fading on the run in. Star
Potential broke modestly and made most of the room left by the
absent Ziggy Sawdust (trap 2). She kept on
to lead on the run in.
Questhouse
Jimmy smashed out an led early in the hurdles H1. He hit the 3rd
hurdle, but did not seem to be striding out quite right running into
it. It did not look like he finished sound. Too
Much Trouble was left in front and went on to score. Gantara
eased at 1 few bends and stayed on for second.
The
S7 was won by Mash
It Up, who made all. He was one paced from the 5th bend and held
on from Witches
Petal, who held every chance. They call the S7's S4's these
days, but they are just as appalling as they used to be. For betting
purposes, you can cross a number of runners out, but I'd rather they
were run on the Bags, or not at all myself.
The A6
looked to be a match between Lockdale
Duke and Ask
The Question beforehand, and that's how it turned out. Lockdale
Duke missed the break this time, but showed a real nice turn of
early and made all. He lost a few lengths under the bookies
umbrellas after looking to be set for a comfortable victory. Ask
The Question fell out of the traps, but came home well to finish
a neck second.
Versailles
broke best in the P6, but Zoot
showed the better early pace and led up. Versailles
plugged on and got to within a neck at the line, as Zoot
just held on.
After winning well in S3 grade last time,
Pennys
Crown won the S2, leading off the second bend. Fairbet
Flash looked as if she would hit the front off the second bend
and unfortunately stumbled badly and lost all momentum. Ebony
Ocean stayed on from well off the pace to finish two lengths
second.
Dark
Fantasy looked to have a plot draw on the rails in the second P5
and was sent off a generous looking 4-1 shot. He broke well, came
off the rails and made all. Ardmayle
Machine stayed on and went down in a photo.
Daisyfield
Bella was an impressive winner of the A4. She broke very well
and made all the running for a comfortable success. There was
thankfully no sign of the cramping that had cost her a victory or
two in recent weeks. Zu
Yi checked off at the first bend and was crowded, but still
managed to grab second.
Pennys
Britney (sister of earlier scorer Pennys
Crown) was quick out of the boxes and made all for a comfortable
victory in the S1. Droopys
Sibin checked at the first , but kept on for second.
From
the moment Kilgraney
Agassi produced a decent start, the A3 was all over. Adamant
Laser led up for a short while, before Kilgraney
Agassi whooshed past between the first two bends. If Kilgraney
Agassi starts trapping like this more consistently, he'll be
winning plenty more races.
Ballyneale
Light made all to land the A2 and held on by a neck. Shelbourne
Ryan turned more than handy in behind and seemed to refuse to go
by. He's not been running well for a while, but I have not seen him
do this before. Let's hope it's a one off. Reachfar
Gifted checked badly at the first.
After a trip
to Harlow, (a winning one), Armies
Plan matched strides with Perceptive
Pacey in the A1 and showed the better pace to lead up off the
second bend. The result was never in doubt as he stays well. Armies
Plan paid a generous 9/2 on the tote to the delight of this
author!
Double
Top stepped up to the oche in the S2 finale after fading from
the 5th bend last time up. This time it was a "Phil
Taylor" like performance and it was game shot & match as he
destroyed the field.
