The Div 2 hurdles event was a
messy race. Custom
Paul broke modestly and showed pace to lead up. Fear
Blackjack challenged between the last two bends and dwelt up. Wol
was very slow away, ran on and dwelt up as he challenged on the run
in. Custom
Paul found himself in front again on the run in and won the
event.
Castledale
Lad won again for those nice lads from the 425 channel. Hope
they got the lot. Kildare
Lark led up till half way and plodded on for second. Anyone who
supported Ronnies
Callum again tonight has not been watching the racing.
Silbury
Squirrel looked a gimme in the novice stayers event (easy after
the race, isn't it) and ruined this shoddy lot. The rest did not
really deserve a mention to be honest.
There was a
couple of joke runners at the track. The first was Jeddies
Banker, who was beaten more than twenty lengths. Andagainplease
was the other one later on, who was beaten a similar margin. Perhaps
we could have a match race next week?
Pork
Pie disappointed in the Div 4 standard. He broke modestly and
ran well below par. January
Student (the quarter horse) led up and faded on the run in. (No
surprise there) Bell
Classic capitalised and led on the run in.
Droopys
Boss broke poorly in the maiden and looked to have it all to do
on the run to the first bend. However, there was bunching up front
off the second bend and Droopys
Boss swung round, houdinied and somehow hit the front at half
way. We could have all named the winner from there! Kingfisher
Daisy followed him home in second.
Cobra
Striking missed the break after a lay off in the Div 3 standard.
(Yes, Cobra
Striking was allowed into a Div 3 race!) Cobra
Striking unleashed his trademark early burst and amazingly got
to the front at half way. Cobra
Striking understandably got tired off the last and succumbed to Rooster
Nosey late on. Rooster
Nosey had led up early doors and kept on to grab the lead near
the line.
Miss
Dark Eyes broke well in the novice marathon and led until
between the last two bends. She didn't get the trip. The other joint
favvy, Head
Iton Tonge fell out of the traps, was out with the washing early
on and was nearest at the finish. He was never near to challenge for
the lead. I
Mean That kept on and hit the front between the last two turns
to spring a surprise success.
Farloe
Posh went wide and bumped into Erinaceous
Rapid at the traps in the puppy standard. Lockwood
Littljo stole an early march, but looked vulnerable on the run
to the third bend and was swamped for pace. Emporio
Cupid hit the front at the 4th bend, but could not hold the
determined late challenge of Erinaceous
Rapid, who led near the line.
Snoozys
Palace broke best in the Div 2 Rapid City stakes, but was
quickly outpaced as Blue
Rizzler showed a bright turn of early speed to lead at the first
bend. Ronnies
Earner showed his class and despite easing at the 3rd bend, had
plenty in hand to lead at the 4th bend. Shrewd
Rambler missed the break, but finished ok to take second.
Big
Brett Coal took a few bends to get to the front in the Div 1
stayers event, but added yet another home win to the tally with consummate
ease. Blackmagic
Guy got going too late and plugged on for second.
Greenfield
Hero won the battle for early supremacy with Journey
North in the Div 1 standard before proceeding to make all. Journey
North couldn't land a blow and came home a length and
three quarter second. This was a very good run after a 40 day
layoff. War
Of Attrition kept on gallantly for third.
January
Tiger won the veterans event very comfortably. Optimistic
Henry towed him along before crying enough from half way. January
Tiger led at the 3rd bend. Emporio
Jet broke poorly, moved off and ran a shocker.
Droopys
Majella broke smartly and led for most of the way in the Div 2
stayers event. Coolanga
Flyer broke mostly and was outpace and crowded early doors
along with Xamax
Capel. Patch
Of Blue plugged on and led on the run in for an unlikely success
in the finale.
