Totti night at the

Walthamstow Report
05 Apr 2007
An open raced card with a few graded races thrown in.
In
the opening A8, Good
Georgia and Bonnie
Time showed the early pace and Bonnie
Time got the better of that battle and led at half way. Good
Georgia faded to the rear from the third bend. Silk
Tie stayed on and threatened to challenge at the 3rd bend, but Bonnie
Time pulled out more and the 7/4 favourite landed the opener.
Pork
Pie showed some smart early and flung itself into the first bend
and made all. He's a real trier and should be winning plenty more. Ballymac
Pete broke modestly, showed some EP, but could never get on
terms once Pork
Pie had secured first run. Teresa Cahill told us a nice story
about Pork
Pie. A couple of nippers wrote her a letter saying that they
were Pork
Pie's biggest fans and said lots of nice things about him.
Teresa was quite taken by this letter and the kids are in for a very
nice surprise. Teresa is getting Steve Nash to take a load of action
shots of Pork
Pie and will be sending them to the kids. What a lovely gift
that will be!
Craigdales
Ruby made all to land the S2, despite easing at the 5th bend. Scooter
Man loomed up in second at the 5th bend and got to within a long
looking short head, despite not being the strongest of stayers. Centaur
Driver ran a shocker and carried his head in an awkward
position.
Snazzy
Time bolted out of the traps and made all in the hurdles open. Strong
Flow showed some nice pace in the race and would have
needed this race quite badly, following a lay off. I would think
that Strong
Flow will be giving Snazzy
Time something to think about in the coming weeks, as he
re-gains full fitness.
Sword
Bridge landed a bit of a touch for connections as he landed the
novice stayers race. He was slow away, but stayed on to catch the
non-staying early pace setters. Bobs
Express led to between the 3rd and 4th bend until Droopys
Fabregas took over. Droopys
Fabregas faded to finish last. Box
Of Tricks plodded on for second. Sword
Bridge will need to improve on this to be competitive in his
subsequent opens, as he will seldom face a field as week as this
one.
King
Of Persia broke smartly and took a middle course before making
all in the Division 3 standard. Armies
Plan showed some middle pace and close it down to a length at
the line, as King
Of Persia weakened a bit. Miss
Modesty went straight to the rails and was crowded on the run
up. She moved off at the second bend and faded on the run in.
Those who took a short price about Farloe
Focus in the veterans race had a sweat up during the race.Nil
Finance broke very well and Farloe
Focus missed the break. Farloe
Focus ran on well and still won comfortably enough in the
end, leading on the run in.
The division two stayers race looked a trappy
event beforehand, with some in and out performers taking part. Smooth
Darika made the running , but could not hold Big
Brett Coal as he came to lead at the 5th bend for his first win
this year. Fear
Martina broke close behind Smooth
Darika, but could never find the gaps.
Sophie
Rose was a decent winner of the maiden division 1 standard. She broke
very well and made all. Deanridge
Newman made a decent start to his career and should improve a
fair bit for the experience. Deanridge
Newman reputedly cost a bit over twenty grand. Deanridge
Newman used to be named Coolratty Marine and recorded a
decent 28.85 at Longford.
Paulees
Prince led up in the division two standard, but could not hold Ross
Fortune, who grabbed the lead near the line. Ross
Fortune is showing improved determination recently.
Roswell
Bluesky led the field in the division one stayers race, but
looked vulnerable some way from home. Back
By Daylight took up the running at the 5th bend, but Go
Princess showed the better stamina. The favourite Drimeen
Rumble faded from the 5th bend after holding every chance.
The Arc favourite Vipar
Totti was allowed to go off a generous 3/1 chance (touched 7/2)
in the division 1 standard. Vipar
Totti made a mockery of those odds and showed some quality early
pace and made all in a fast 28.64. Nightshade
ran a bit wide, but kept on for a four length second.
January
Student went off a surprisingly short price in the maiden division
2 standard. January
Student was very quick out of the boxes and despite holding a
decent lead at half way, his stamina gave way, despite his trainer's
keen urgings. Erinaceous
Rapid ran on and led on the run in, as January
Student went wide at the last turn and faded. Droopys
Boss stayed on for second. Chase
The Dream looked like he finished lame.
Bell
Sensational won the final S3 shitters race, leading between the
last two turns after a slow start. Moynevilla
Robin had a dwell up in behind. Unlikely
Hotshow was smashed up at the first bend, but still managed to
finish second.
