Tuesday's card featured the first round of the Steward Cup with some average
graded fare thrown in The ground was fast again, despite what the
official going allowances are likely to indicate.
Black
Lightning trapped out in the opener, but had a tea break going
into the bend and got swamped for pace. Wise
Shakira broke modestly, showed a little pace to the bend and
turned in front. She ran well after.
Appletown
Drogba disappointed on the Bags last time, but made no mistake
here. Droopys
Fefel kept on for second. There was some trouble in the middle
traps.
Redec
King broke well and led the P8 contest, but went wide and faded
from the last bend. The favvy Bowlers
Bullet was bitterly disappointing. Special
Nyx was slow away, but kept on to win a moderate P8
contest.
The first Stewards cup heat was
comfortably won in trap to line fashion by January
Tiger. Roswell
Bluesky did nothing wrong in second. Spiridon
Louis ran poorly and looks unlikely to regain his best form.
Ballymac
Daisy led up in the P7, running mid/wide on the run up. She led
to the 3rd bend, but could not hold Special
Eyes who kept on ok for a fair win.
Black
As Coal was a very convincing winner in the A6. After a modest
break his early took him well clear. However he cramped (or
something) on the run in and held on.
The second
Stewards cup heat was weakened by the absence of Hurricane Jazz, who
was withdrawn in season. Jeddies
Liberty broke slowly, but showed plenty of EP to lead at the
third bend. After a couple of trial at the track I was personally
expecting a bit more. Classy
Star stayed on ok for second.
Bobs
Express went wide on the run up and led to the 3rd
bend. Bills
On Board led up at the 3rd briefly, but had a dwell up at the
4th bend. Townhead
Ben plugged on and led near the line.
Ballinabola
Bola made most of the running in the A4, but went wide at the
4th bend and was nailed on the line by Sangria.
Brickfield
Deal again looked lame.
The final Stewards cup
heat saw the enigmatic Romford
Car Two get turned over at a shade of odds on. Back
By Daylight made the early running, but did not get the trip and
faded from the 5th bend. RCT got behind early and faced a wall of
dogs as he ran on to challenge at the 5th. There was no room at the
inn and he finished second. Mitzie
stayed on to lead on the run in.
Miss
Modesty continued her upward curve of progression as she landed
the A1 after producing a fine start and making all. Buckland
Wally ran his usual honest race in second. What a nice dog he
must be to own.
The grim old last shitter race was
won by Droopys
Delia, who was slow away, but stayed on to lead on the run in.
