The
Arc is all over! –
Walthamstow
Report 08 Feb 2007
Tuesday brought a mixed open card.
I broke smartly and made the first. Stow_judge punting rule no. 435
came in on the first race. “If you fancy trap one in a 435 race,
back it, otherwise swerve the race”
Myella
Honcho broke modestly and swung round to lead off the 2nd
bend. Ballymac
Pete did the decent thing (for me) and stopped Pork
Pie
in his tracks and the race was all over.
Div 5 was won by Snazzy
Rover for Seamus Cahill. Dance
Linzi stayed on fairly well for 2nd. Blonde
Sheriff really looked the part, what a lovely scopey dog. He was
very novicey and got worked up in the traps and missed it and it all
went wrong for him. But he is definitely one to keep an eye on.
Strong
Flow banged out and got his revenge on Snazzy
Time, who cried enough after holding every chance at the 3rd
bend. The race was all over out of the traps.
The novice marathon was a modest
race. Cash
For Kate was bitterly disappointing, she was running into everything
in sight. This shite race went the way of Malbay
Thumper.
Division 4 was a bit more
interesting than a few of the earlier races. Clodiagh
Woods crashed out the traps, but bottled it at the first bend. Lockdale
Lord showed some pace, but was ultimately outclassed. Blonde
Becks and
Caulry
Fast Trap has a good buckle and Blonde
Becks came out on top. Blonde
Becks brought a 27.89 Wimbledon run to the table and Caulry
Fast Trap had a fast run at Rye House on his card.
Division 3 was another competitive
race and it was won by Corleones
Flash , who had time to glance at his rivals on the run in before
holding on, Special
Deal showed his usual pace, but eased at the 3rd bend.
Toms
View turned handy and put in a dismal showing here.
After Big
Brett Coal performed below par again, many would have thought
that Blackmagic
Guy should have the race for the taking.. However, despite turning
with every chance, Blackmagic
Guy tangled with Colorado
Lucy and folded rather tamely. Geordie
Bill won the race for Derek Knight.
Eye
Onthe Gift had a good opportunity in the puppy standard after some
recent tough assignments. He made no mistake here and made all the
running.
Farloe
Theleader broke smartly and made all in Division two. Blonde
Zak moved off and smashed into Exclusive
Lee (who was slow away and not looking too likely to get
involved) at the first, but stayed on ok after.
Westminster
Taj produced a majestic performance in the marathon and warmed
up what was becoming a somewhat dull evening. He broke superbly and
put some serious daylight between himself and his rivals. You do not
see many dogs win by this far.
Westminster
Taj has had his troubles and does not always run the bends well.
However, when he is right, he is a potent weapon in these average
marathons.
Mutton
(chops) bolted out the traps in the Veterans, but sadly went all wrong
at the 2nd bend. The consistent Annes
Honcho ran her usual honest race after a modest start and gamely
picked up Farloe
Focus, who lost little in defeat. (£140)
The premiere performer Jazz
Hurricane showed some brilliant pace to land Division one of the open.
Rough
Region produced a very decent start and towed Jazz
Hurricane
down the back straight. Jazz
Hurricane showed her class and screamed away from the 3rd
bend. I cannot see how she can be stopped in the Arc.
The enigmatic Ross
Fortune finally got his head in front in the maiden standard, after a series of near misses. He is
one to watch and not one to bet on.
Some nice arras were thrown in the last (groan)
as Double Top was a comfortable winner of the novice stayers. His
rivals never got within a sniff of the doubles.
