Walthamstow
Report 16 Jan 2007
A dreadful Tuesday meeting for the
needy, greedy and nothing else to dos opened with a modest A9 where
Mark Wallis’s Evening Times picked up his kennel mate
Hillcross Grace, who did the donkey work until the run in. Evening
Times is by Armani Angel, who was A1/S2 at the stow. This one
was owned by Miss T.V Quach. I doubt you could make that one up. (Cf
Mr T Judge at a previous meeting) Mr Duffy’s Courage Best
showed some promise after a “condor” start. Courage Best
is by Metric Flower who was open class.
Canary Tide led up in the P9
before squawking enough to the disappointment of one Racing Post
journalist. Son Of Iris, who would be wearing blinkers, a visor and
whiskers, were he a horse, had so much in hand that he popped in the
Hideaway bar at the last before picking up the budgie on the run in.
The hurdles H2 saw a coming back to
form from the Kelly Mullins trained Blue Meadow Lad. Much
more fluent at the bends this time, the writing was on the wall once
he turned behind the gooner dog (Highbury Tiger) down the
back straight. Gary Baggs’s True Kewell made all the running to
land the A8. The result would surely have been different had Matomi
Sparkle kept on the straight and narrow. Matomi Sparkle left
several lengths on the track and should surely be winning in this
grade before too long.
Fire Height Dan’s first pup A
Beautiful Life showed some early pace before losing his bearing
going into the first to leave Droppys Jimmy (previously noted
here) to drive the bend and take a race he probably would have won
anyway. Fionntra Lisa gave her rivals a start and a beating,
when routing her field to win very impressively in the S3. She left
a lot of lengths on the track last time in an open and made no
mistake against this motley crew. Hypatia Blue beat a poor
field hollow in the A7. Despite being beaten in her last 4 attempts
on the bags, she did nothing wrong here. Fear Oliver made it
two from two when winning the A6. This was much harder than many
thought would be the case beforehand. Elusive For Sure put in
a good effort to go down by half a length.
The next weakly contested A6 was won
by Rodolfos Secret. In a race where it was hard to form an
opinion, Rodolfos
Secret picked up Annandale Chief who led up but his
stamina gave way from the 3rd bend.
Shell Harbour showed some
bright early pace in the A5 before his stamina/soundness/navigation
went all wrong after two bends. Mountjoy Silver won another
dreadful contest. Droopys Command won an uninspiring A4,
defying a double upgrade (a rare event) after a trip to Romford in
between.
In the A3, Tanner Butler again broke smartly and
looked home and hosed, before Sligo Next (ex Newlawn Trevor)
consented to put it down and picked her up near the line. The lucky
last lottery appalling excuse for a greyhound race was won by All
One. All One picked up the pieces when Paxton
Prince’s stamina gave way after leading from the 2nd
bend to near the 5th.
Ones to Note
None,
absolutely none.
