7.00 Doncaster Dibco Precision
Handicap Class 4 12F Good Good to firm in places
Celtic Change - Has a high weight
for what he has achieved so far in his career compared to the rivals
in this handicap, however he is progressing the right way and with
him being unexposed over tonight's trip he could well improve on his
run at York two runs back over 10 furlongs. Looks like he improved
for the 10 furlongs and being by Celtic swing these two furlongs
could be more then ideal for this horse. The conditions underfoot
should be ideal for this horse tonight and under 10 stone he looks
to be a solid player in a race that lacks any real classy types.
Needs to find improvement to take on better opponents then this and
this could be a good stepping stone.
Boz - Has been revelation since
turning to Polly track and has progressed up the weights due to that
surface, the return to turf last time at this track over the 12
furlongs under similar conditions didn't show him up to be well
handicapped on this surface and is another that looks high in the
weights for what he has achieved. Not many rivals come into this
race in top form and if he could produce his form from the all
weather he could be interesting even though his best form has come
over 2 furlong further then he runs over tonight. The narrow win
over Heathyards pride on the all weather was most probably his best
piece of form and while he is more unexposed then that rival, he
could well struggle to confirm the form under these terms tonight.
Vicious Warrior - Likes it very soft
underfoot on tracks such as this and could well struggle under
tonight's conditions which should be plenty fast enough for a horse
trying his first attempt over 12 furlongs. Its unknown weather this
exposed horse will stay the extra trip as he no doubt talented
enough to do himself some justice in this class of race, but given
how he performed last time at Carlisle where he had more preferred
conditions underfoot it is hard to see him re-finding the winning
touch in his career and is looking like a regressive horse and much
lies on this easier track and the step up in trip working the
oracle.
Heathyards Pride - has been saving
his best performances for the all weather of late and comes into
this handicap very well weighted with Boz who narrowly scored past
him on his best recent run. Looks well handicapped on the return to
the turf and with out doubt has the talent to defy his current mark
back on turf if not to regressed since the last time on this kind of
surface. The performance he put up on the all weather was of genuine
class 4 handicapping form and the speed figure from that race
suggested it was run at a true gallop. A massive swing in the
weights with Boz and more likely to hold his own on this surface
then that rival over this shorter trip in which he performs on a
variety of tracks.
Clueless - Didn't run to badly last
time at Carlisle despite being beaten 7L and it appears the
handicapper has given him a chance at the weights now. The race
prior to that with some juice in the ground over 10 furlongs here
wasn't a particularly eye catching piece of form and it was good to
see him improve for the stiffer test of stamina at Carlisle. Today's
task over twelve furlongs is what he has been waiting for under his
new handler and the ground should be more then ideal underfoot with
his best performances coming on ground that is on the quick side of
good and should give a much better account then when previously at
this track with conditions turning very much in his favour. Well
handicapped and could potentially bounce back to form.
Amanda Carter - made all at Haydock
recently to win by 7L and was benefited by having a easy time on the
front end in a race that was desperately slow for a class 4 handicap
and shouldn't be given to much rope this time around against more
seasoned campaigners. The handicapper has put her up 6lbs for that
win and she has started to look more exposed now in terms of these
12f handicaps. The claimer has made good work of the rides he has
been given so far from the Fahey barn. She needs to find more
improvement of this weight in this company I feel as it was a poor
race she won last time, but she has the same conditions underfoot
tonight to do herself some justice.
Sporting Gesture - is very well
handicapped on the best of his old form but is in the main a
regressive type based on how he has lost his form over the past 2yrs
or so. Has gone well at York twice now in a apprentice handicap and
prior to that in a low class handicap similar to this over today's
trip and should be based on that performance that day in reference
to his chances in this race. Hasn't moved much in the weights
curiosity of that 2nd at York and even though the change to this
track, which highly suits him, he may just find one rival stronger
in the finish here today. Should be involved in the finish here
today with plenty of his rivals not in the best of form and at the
weights should be placed.
The Oil Magnete - Hard to fathom too
much for handicap runs he has put up since losing his maiden tag at
this track 3 runs back. Takes a massive step up in trip in the hope
that he find his feet but since going into handicaps has struggled
in 3yo handicaps. Connections will be hoping that the age allowance
along with the trip will help him along to pick up races such as
this and with a progressive nature to his profile he could well
still be handicapped to go very well. The conditions may be a
concern with best early form coming with plenty of ease in the
ground and the Doncaster maiden win looking quite decent piece of
form at this level with the company today.
Advised bet - Sporting Gesture
1 pt @ 10-1 & Heathyards Pride 1
pt @ 7-1
