3.45 Pontefract EBF Chris
Deuters Memorial Handicap Class 3 6F Good to firm
Horses to consider
Misphire (5/1) – Maybe a fillies who
is best with a little juice in the ground, but has proven in the
past to be more then capable at running big races on quick ground
over sprint trips. This course plays to her strengths and she looks
weighted well to go close in this average looking same sex handicap
today. She is likely to be held up in rear here so her wide draw
shouldn’t be a disadvantage as she will be dropped in, providing she
doesn’t get to out paced she should be on the premises for a jockey
and trainer combo that seems to pay to follow this season.
Woodnock (8/1) – Another filly that
likes to be produced late from her hold up position should go close
today if getting the breaks in running, she has a touch of class
about her the way she comes from last to first and given the form
she has produce on the all weather suggest that she is a cut above
these in this race as the race seems to lack real strength and depth
today. She should be switched off at the back and if Mango Music
cuts the pace out well in this handicap she could well pounce hard
and late on a course that has a fair share of come from behind
winners.
Anosti (12/1) – looked a nice
prospect last season fro Kevin Ryan and ran a cracker in the big
sales race at Newmarket for the same connections, she may have been
a early progresses as a 2yo and there is some doubts in her training
on in what we have seen so far this season. Given a stiff ask in the
Nell Gwyn on first run this season, the yard she comes from is in
much better form now then at the start of the season where I noted
they were taking time to come to hand. Likely to take a prominent
role in this sprint handicap from her ideal draw of 3 and the jockey
is one I like from the front end. The headgear is on to maybe just
spark this horse back into form as she has dropped down the handicap
to a mark I cant sees her struggling to much off, if having
progressed from 2 to 3yo.
Advised Bet – Anosti
1pt win @ 12/1 (BF’s16’s) & Woodnock
1pt win @ 8/1 (BF’8’s)

handicap Class 4 10F Good to firm
Horses to consider
Scamperdale (12/1) – has been a
model of consistency on the all weather over the last 6 months and
has his first run on turf since august last year and is 7lbs lower
then the mark he ran of last time. The ground is ideal for this
horse tonight as it is likely to be very fast and on breeding and
his past performance on quick ground he should have a good chance
even though he has a welter burden of weight to carry. With plenty
of front-runners in this race likely to make it an end-to-end
gallop, this could well help this horse to come through in the home
straight and land the race. Drawn in 2 isn’t the most ideal draw for
this horse, but the will be dropped in and if not going to wide
under Tom Quelly shouldn’t be discounted to readily in what looks a
very poor handicap.
Risque Heights (16/1) – in what is a
open handicap Risque Heights is another that looks overpriced in my
view as the strong pace over this trip can only help this horse to
come well under the conditions tonight. Suited to 10 furlongs with
more to come I feel, he is priced up on his defeat over a mile last
time and that has led to this being the value pick in this race
tonight. Yet to win on turf but has shown a liking for this kind of
surface he is certainly likely to run a big race in this tonight at
double figure odds. The yard is double handed and in cracking form
at present, this is the first string.
Proper (11/1) – Formally with Mick
Channon and now plying his trade for Charlie Mann that is a better
known jump trainer then a flat track trainer and this horse makes
the switch back to this code tonight in hope of picking up some
prize money as he has the talent to beat these. Stays this trip well
and proven to be willing to battle on he will help cut out the pace
and will maybe be best placed on the heels of the leaders to get
first run. Hard to know just how much ability is retained as Mick
Channon rarely gets it wrong, but then again who would have thought
Katchit would be a champion hurdler?
Advised bets – Risqué Heights
1pt win @ 16/1(BF23’s) & Scamperdale
1pt win @ 12/1(BF13’s)
Best of luck all
