Horses to consider
Double Banded (11/1) - Rapid
improver over the last twelve months and has had a surprise jockey
change for this race with Seb Sanders taking over the ride for this
big prize and this looks like his best chance of winning a race at
this level I feel. The ground is quite testing for this time of the
year and it seems to be the norm for this race that there is give
underfoot for potential hurdling types and this horse that is only
4yo could well be over hurdles come the summer. John Dunlop horses
have been in fine form this summer so far and they take the long
trip north for this race today. Ran a ok race in the Chester Cup but
that track and race in my view was never going to totally suit so it
was a testament to the horse to get as close as he did and this more
stiffer test should help him to improve further with the drop back
in trip a added bonus. The Nottingham run stands out well and he
should run a big race for today's pilot.
Inchadamph (50/1) - Strong staying
horse who is long overdue a crack at this handicap and taking on
board the performance he put up at Doncaster on the final day of the
season he is very much a horse that still retains the ability that
has seen him go close in some major staying handicaps. The ground
shouldn't be a problem despite the fact his wins have come on a
sound surface and with a strong pace assured in this handicap his
tactics should be well suited for this race today. 2M is his trip I
feel and even though there is no Jamie Spencer for this horse today
he could run a big race under his northern jockey. This is his time
of year and despite his advancing years he should go close under a
low handicap weight here today. Don't discount lightly because of
the penalty for that win on final run last season.
Bogside Theatre (14/1) - no match
for highland Legacy earlier in the season at Ripon but has stronger
claims now of reversing that form with her conqueror today. The cut
in the ground is likely to benefit this horse, who likes to get her
toe in. The yard usually do well in this handicap, with their horses
laid out for this race. On much better terms, she has strong claims
of reversing the form with Highland Legacy and going on to progress
in these types of races, as he is still lightly raced and unexposed
as a handicapper. She stays well and should be suited to the run of
the race. The change of jockey is a positive in my view and a big
ride is expected.
