4:20 Ascot ROYAL HUNT CUP
(HERITAGE HANDICAP) (CLASS 2) (3yo+) Winner £62,310.00 1m GD-FM
Horses to consider
Bankable - Plenty of horses in this
race have the ability to land a heritage handicap this season under
there current marks on this conditions, but only a few have the
ability to go on from handicapping to hold claims at listed and
group 3 class and Bankable is one of those horses. Currently a stone
in hand over his rivals if you take the superb visual win last time
at Goodwood as a mark of a horse that clearly has bags of ability
for a well recognised trainer in this sphere. The ground may be
different to what he has raced on so far but the quick ground in the
past has proven to be no problem for this horse and with the steady
guidance of Dettori in the saddle, everything is set for a big run
in what has seemly been his target.
Extraterrestrial - A totally
different race is likely from the run at Chester where he was a
unlucky horse is likely today and he may well be in here without a
penalty for what would have been a victory with a clear run in my
view. This more fair track should help the horse that has improved
with every start for Northern trainer Richard Fahey and could well
give the trainer a big handicap victory down south here as he
collects most of his prizes around the northern circuit. The quick
ground over a mile should suit and there is no surprise that he is
one of the leading fancies away from the strong favourite for this
handicap today.
Well Come - Michael Jarvis has been
very keen on this horse since day one and he is a splendid looking
horse who has improved from his 3yo days where he was lightly raced
and didn't need a lot of getting fit. Had a slight belly on him in
this years Victoria Cup where he reared at the start and still
managed to show enough dash over his minimum trip to get back
involved in the race down the stand side that day and he has become
a horse that when in front he seems to idle and even though he
finished 4th in that big handicap he did run a big race leading his
group home as the first three came from up the middle. The Blinkers
are on for the first time today and this looks his target for the
season after a good 3yo campaign over this trip. The further trip
and the headgear could well bring him along and it would be no
surprise if he was to shock the short price favourite and give the
bookies a big winner on the day.
Orchard Supreme - While the above
three are the ones that can go on to run in better races then
handicaps, this horse is one that has put up performances to suggest
he has had that chance to thrive at a higher level, albeit on the
all weather tracks. His turf performances haven't gone totally
unnoticed over the years and if he was to roll back the years he
could well bounce back to some sort of form in this race. However he
is quite heavily tried and quick turf hasn't been ideal for him in
the past and this looks a very hot race for a horse that is maybe on
the way down in class rather then on the way up.
Humongous - Often gambled on and
doesn't seem to land the money to often for a clearly talented horse
and maybe this stiff mile isn't his track to be strong at. The run
at Goodwood that seemly seems t suit him is the pick of his form
when not beaten far by the impressive Third Set of Roger Charlton's.
While that course seems to play to his strength he might not have
enough in his favour to get to within 5lbs on that performance that
would have him as a live contender under today's weight. His runs at
the track haven't been the most eye catching and even though I feel
there is a race such as this in him, it maybe best to wait for
another day despite the return to the saddle of Steve Drowne.

Verdict – The
favourite is likely to be all the rage and is clearly the very
likely winner of this handicap, however at 2/1 in a 30 runner
handicap at a ultra competitive meeting the value on this horse long
went before today. Well Come ran a nice prep for this race and this
lightly raced son of Elnadim could well come on further for the
introduction of the first time blinkers. The Richard Fahey
Extraterrestrial is the other danger to favourite backers in a field
full of potential banana Skins.
Selection –
2 pts win Well Come
@ 8/1 (BF8.5/1)
