Horses to consider
Secret Night – The only female in
the field has achieved more then all these runners so far in her
career and even though she has a regressive profile having not
achieved the heights of her listed runs in the past, she has to be
considered a threat in this handicap tonight with just nine stone to
carry which is half a stone lighter then her main rivals in this
race. The ground should be more then ideal for her and she has shown
up well on the all weather against the pattern bound King of Dixie
and more recently on the turf to Farley Star who was impressive when
following up the other day. She has the services of Seb Sanders who
does well for the Cox yard and with a lack of pace on in this race
she could well sit handy of a steady pace before kicking on to
score.
Gallantry – Raced a little more
handy last time at the turning track of Chester and that return to
form when just piped by the consistent performer Daaweitza. That
race wasn’t the strongest of class 3 handicaps but when looking at
this class 4 you have to feel Gallantry of top weight still has more
then a chance of landing this prize. The slow pace wont be ideal so
he could find himself from his low draw getting stacked up on the
sharp turning bend into the straight and his young jockey will need
all his wit about him to take this race. Suited by quick ground on a
turning track over seven furlongs he has to make the shortlist
looking so well handicapped at present as he approaches returning to
his best, which would have him winning at this level.
Golden Desert – Another that comes
into this race of the back of a good run, where he was just denied
by a superb Jamie Spencer ride at Goodwood just 3 days ago. The
quick return suggest they are keen to get a win into this horse from
the top of the weights and with him taking a handy position in his
races, he could well have enough in hand here to land this handicap.
That would mean he would pick up a penalty for future handicaps,
that it seems the yard are keen to get him into. Only a 4yo and
lightly raced, he handles quick ground over seven furlongs well and
the booking of Richard Hughes, who is good with his hands and times
races to perfection off a slow gallop, is eye catching. He looks set
to run a big race.
Hiccups – Suited to these types of
races and often goes in at a big price, well suited to a strongly
ran sharp turning race and he has at least one of those factors in
today’s race as he likes to rattle home of the home turn, whether or
not this race will be entirely ran to suit is to be seen and he
certainly enjoys these conditions. Not the best race he has
contested and even though exposed must have some sort of claims in
this race. Has much in favour and if H Harrison goes of like a
rocket he could get the pace he needs, however it looks very
unlikely he is to have the run of the race and that has to be the
biggest concern with him and Gallantry in this race.
Verdict – A
muddling affair is quite likely with H Harrison likely to dictate a
slow pace. However, that rival is very exposed and the likes of
Golden Desert and Secret Night are likely to be stacking up behind
ready to strike. The Terrance Mills trained Golden Desert looks well
set to run a big race, after being narrowly denied just 3 days ago.
Selection – 2 pts
win Golden Desert @ 100/30
(BF7-2)
Best of luck all
