4.35 York HSS.COM Stakes
(Handicap) Class 3 Good 5F
Tabaret – Caught the eye last time
over five furlongs in a better quality race and is taken to reverse
the form with Everymanforhimself based on that running and has twice
ran with much credit here over five this season. Today could well be
5th time lucky as the class of rivals is not as strong and even
though he doesn’t look the horse with the most scoop for improvement
and the weight he has to carry today potentially making life tougher
he should still be very much involved with the ground almost perfect
underfoot for himself today and shouldn’t be far off winning this
season around this handicap mark and level of competition, Dean
Mckewon returns for the ride. Should get a strong pace with a good
gallop likely against the stand side rail.
Bahamian Ballet – Lowly weighted in
this handicap and paired with for the first time the Dash winning
jockey William Buick who has made his name in these sprint handicaps
so far in his short career. Drawn in the middle of the track he will
have a choice to make if the likely split happens over this five
furlongs and if they have done their homework they will know the
stand side to middle is where to be in this handicap. Was hampered
when beaten by Fantasy Explorer last time at haydock by just under a
length and meets that rival on the same terms here. Paired with a
different jockey he could have more luck this time around as the
Pontefract last season over five furlongs he very much caught the
eye as a horse on the upgrade and would be no surprise to see him go
close here today.
Fantasy Explorer – Didn’t run to bad
here last time when finishing behind Tabaret and that effort maybe
was a shade below his performance at Haydock the time before where
he finished in front of Bahamian Ballet. Looks likely to go well
again here for John Quinn and every chance of turning the form
around with Tabaret if getting a easy time on the front end as York
Sprints can suit front-runners when the ground is lively. The race
is likely to develop around him and the decent draw will give him a
perfect pitch to be up in the firing line as he has plenty of speed.
The introduction of Jamie Moriety could be significant as he takes
of 3lbs and has proven to be a capable jockey in the past.
Bond City – Was a little
disappointing last week in the dash as I expected so much more form
the horse and this is much easier today then that race so has to
have a say in the outcome. Burdened with 10 stone on his back for a
competitive sprint handicap he may have wanted more rain just to
take the edge of the ground to let his class shine through. Will win
a handicap sprint soon enough, but today’s race maybe just outside
his sphere at this moment in time?
Verdict – Bond
City is one to keep an eye on for upcoming handicaps, while Tabaret
may well have too much class for these under these conditions.
However he is a bit hit and misses and even though having been
involved in the finish twice here this season he may be vulnerable
to a lighter weighted rival. The lighter weighted Bahamian Ballet
may well be the horse to take advantage and reverse Haydock running
with Fantasy Explorer who is set to be kept to races such as this
and will land one sooner or later.
Selection – 2 pts
win Bahamian Ballet @ 16-1(BF’S
20’S)
Best of luck all
Well Chief
