4.35 Wolverhampton THE SUPER FAMILY GETAWAYS
@ PONTINS.COM HANDICAP (Class 4) (4YR +) 1M 1f 103yrds - Runners 7
1. Bee Stinger – Fully exposed seasonal campaigner who is only
overall a fair performer and has been constantly campaigned in these
kinds of races. Stays further then this 9F he is consistent over
these kind of trips without being prolific and even though best over
a mile he has some claims over this extended mile trip. The
conditions of the track aren’t totally ideal for him but he performs
to a level and with the Kempton run his best up to date effort he
may struggle against most of these to concede weight to them all. It
is a exposed handicap and while he has top weight to contend with,
he isn’t the classiest horse on this surface it would seem.
My Rating – 93
2. Moonlight Man – Achieved
more in his earlier days when with Richard Hannon and yet to
reproduce that kind of form for new trainer yet, fallen down the
handicap he may have been a early grower and has been found out
since in his 4yo – 6yo campaigns. Now 7yo and most probably the most
exposed runner in the handicap, he has yet to prove that his liking
for these conditions can land him handicaps on a regular basis and
with most of the runners in this field recent efforts being very
much the same in terms of ability it is hard to see him being
ideally suited to this track or the conditions when flopping often
in the past. Suited to the trip he is with a trainer that is
renowned for all weather horses.
My Rating – 90
3. Blacktoft – Was beaten by
Bee Stinger at Kempton but there was very little in it and Blacktoft
who has achieved more since leaving Ed Dunlop’s Yard could well turn
that form around today for his new trainer. His liking for the all
weather gives him strong claims as he is much better then on turf
and even though his class 4 forms doesn’t give to much confidence he
has gone well at a higher level before. The trip is a little concern
in the size of the field as he does do much better over slightly
further and even though there is likely to be a gallop on he may
find it a little sharp.
My rating – 93
4. Oakley Heffert – Richard
Hannon does well with these types of horses and his runner today
under a decent claimer has got claims in this handicap today. Recent
run to art Man at Lingfield looks decent enough form at this level
and while he has had a spin over hurdles in between with two average
runs at this track since, he could well bounce back to form here.
Much more suited this trip then the staying race last time his
record on the all weather may need to improve with no wins in eight
runs. The course has yet to bring the best out of him as well and he
may have better chances in the near future when returned to
Lingfield or back on turf.
My Rating – 93
5. Final Tune – Has had a run
recently which will be a bonus to put him spot on for this race
today and if reproducing the run at Ayr over this trip he could well
win this handicap on his second run back, full of exposed types
Final Tune has been heavily tried on the all weather and while he is
reasonably consistent his form does seem to come more at a lower
level then this handicap and may just be up against it today in what
is a closely matched handicap. Stamina isn’t assured to last and the
9-furlong run at Ayr may have been a case of best of the rest behind
the winner. May be one to consider when dropped into class 5
companies on the all weather.
My Rating – 91
6. Morbick – A regular over
course and distance and has ran with much credit this winter.
Looking at the types in this handicap he could well take all the
beating with so much in his favour. Made the upgrade to class 4
status a few runs back and even though all his best form has been at
a lower level then this he isn’t overly raced and has an unexposed
edge to his profile in comparison to the others. We know what to
expect from him here today and he looks the most solid option even
though no superstar in the offering.
My Rating – 97
7. Urban Warrior – Started
off well for a new connection here and then was given a spin over
hurdles to no avail. Has the ability to make his presence felt from
the foot of the handicap here and is a live contender in a very open
looking handicap as that run puts him in with a shout despite the
upgrade in level. Quite exposed he hasn’t been burdened with this
trip to often and given how he shaped on first start over this trip
he may have more to offer with 10 furlongs being ideal for him as
well. Certain to stay the trip and handles the conditions, he just
is another to add to the shortlist of potential winners of this
handicap.
My Rating – 96
Tissue – Morbick 7/2, Urban Warrior 4/1, Bee Stinger, Oakley
Heffert, Blacktoft 7/1, Final Tune 9/1, Moonlight Man 12/1.
Verdict – Tight
handicap when there isn’t much in between the horses and no surprise
to see Morbick installed as favourite for this handicap, even though
the surprise has to be the 4-1 on offer this morning of the second
favourite Moonlight Man who looks very poor value and would advise a
lay. However there may be better value on offer in Urban Warrior who
is best-priced 8-1 in some places and holds every chance in this
handicap.
Selection –
Urban Warrior 2pts win @ 8-1
(BF9’s)
Best of luck all
