3.35 Lingfield – Treat your
family to Pontin’s Handicap Class 4 0-85 2M Standard
1. Wicked Daze – Sir mark
Prescott has a decent chance of landing this handicap with this
unexposed type who has a very consistent profile and went close in a
feature handicap here the other Saturday and must fancy his chances
in this weaker affair despite the 10 stone plus he has to carry on
the flat. Has some of the leading recent form he steps up to 2M for
the first time today and could well improve for the extra yards with
Seb Sanders doing the steering, beaten by a exposed sort last time
in a better race he may not be quite up to that level yet but will
have improved again and shouldn’t be discounted despite the hefty
load as the Polly track has been made a specialist surface for this
yard in the past.
Tissue Price – 4/1
2. Moon Mix – Formally with
Dermot Weld in his native Ireland before going over hurdles and
flopping he has had one run in the UK on the flat where he finished
2nd at Kempton Park to Jack Rolfe who he reposes here today. Given
some tough tasks as a youngster in Ireland he has been given a
chance by the UK handicapper and could well be up to reversing the
form with his victor last time. Stays the trip well and better
weighted with that rival today he is respected in this handicap.
Tissue Price – 5/1
3. Jack Rolfe – Maybe suited
to the race more then Moon Mix at Kempton in which that rival didn’t
get a clear run but it wasn’t plain sailing for Gary Moore runner
either and he has clearly adopted a game genuine horse who is
progressing the right way in the handicap. Tied in tightly with Moon
Mix there is most probably very little between the pair of them and
one shouldn’t be far from the other regarding there finishing
position. Has a chance of confirming the form today even though the
race will be run differently and has all important course
experience.
Tissue Price- 9/2
4. Masked – Another horse who
has tight form lines with 2M form at Kempton against Jack Rolfe and
if settling which is a big possibility having come on for the run
and clearly has a few things in favour in this competitive looking
staying race. Lightly raced for a 7yo who could have further
progression to make this year and at the weights has a strong
looking chance on the book for Ralf Beckett and may just shade it
this time.
Tissue Price – 9/2
5. War Of The Roses – Comes
here very much in form but looking handicapped up to the hilt now
having racked up a hatrick over middle distances and this is much
tougher then what he has been contesting and takes on the further
trip in the hope that the improvement will come from this extra test
of stamina to hold his own in races such as this.
Tissue Price – 8/1
6. High Point – one of the
most exposed stayer’s on the circuit and one that is rapidly falling
down to a mark that could have him winning but this race is most
probably a little too classy for him these days as he is going the
other way to most of these and has most probably the least in favour
and is best waited with for a race full of exposed types rather then
improvers such as these.
Tissue Price – 20/1
7. Mister Completely – For a
stayer his record of runs is quite amazing as he continues to be
turned out for events such as these and often runs with credit over
2M trips on Polly track around here especially and wouldn’t be a
surprise to see him run a big race again here. However he looks up
against it in regards of raw ability and the progressive types in
the race even though he is in receipt of weight to all bar one.
Tissue Price – 20/1
8. Dubai Ace – a lot less
exposed then Mister Completely yet the same age and is one horse
that needs to find improvement at this level having failed to run
with much credit at it in the past. Strongly suited to the track and
conditions he has a nice low weight in comparison to the others and
the 20 odd pounds from the top weight should give the others much to
think about, but it is hard to draw where the improvement is likely
to come from. He is likely to run his usual consistent race but he
is likely to be found wanting despite being very much in form
Tissue price – 16/1
Tissue – Wicked Daze 4/1, Jack Rolfe, Masked 9/2, Moon Mix 5/1,
War of the roses 8/1, Dubai Ace 16/1, Mister Completely, High Point
20/1
Verdict – A very
tight looking handicap in which only a select few can be discounted
and May be best if the selection is split between two horses. The
form of Jack Rolfe, Moon Mix and Masked's form is tied in and the
ultra consistent Jack Rolfe will be looking to try and confirm form
with both horses today and while he has every chance to do so with
Masked the biggest threat of the two to turning the form on its head
here. Wicked Daze could well be a very nicely handicapped runner
here today but he has to prove he will stay the trip under the
weight and with that in mind is best passed over for the time being.
Selection – 2 pts
winJack Rolfe @ 6-1
(BF7.4) & 2 pts win Marked @
9-1 (BF11)
Best of luck all
