2.50 Lingfield 10 Furlongs
Handicap going: Standard Class 4 (0-85)
1. Jagger – Had a injury and
has shown little since returning from year of the track so far and
may not be the same horse that once was given some fancy targets.
Trainer is always respected on the all weather and there is no doubt
that the horse has plenty in favour for a big run against a exposed
bunch of handicappers, but his recent form suggest he is slightly
laboured these days and may struggle off top weight in this grade.
Tissue Price – Non-Runner
2. Fusili – Can be a talented
mare on her day but looks like she was a early grower into her frame
which saw her contesting listed class races but in her earlier days.
She isn’t at that level anymore but has recent form that suggest she
is capable of going well in this today, She is one of the more
exposed runners in the field and has gone well countless amount of
times at this track, however she may have a problem against more
progressive rivals in giving weight away to them and may be best
passed over today despite the failing handicap mark and looks place
prospect at best.
Tissue Price – 10/1
3. Master Pegasus – Quite
lightly raced for a 5yo and over this trip may have some improvement
to come even though father was hasn’t sired many 10-furlong winners
in his time at stud. Not the most consistent of runners and has
surprisingly struggled to run at a consistently well at this level
which has to be a concern given that he is nearer the top of the
weights. The course is most probably the most ideal for him given
his in out performances but maybe a easing in the weights or a
slightly less competitive race then this.
Tissue Price – Non-Runner
4. Northern Spy – Potentially
could be well ahead of the handicapper here and is open to all sorts
of improvement on the all weather after putting up a eye catching
run last time out at Kempton Park when finishing 2nd to consistent
Evident Pride under today’s pilot. Everything should be in shape for
a perfect run providing that he isn’t one of those horses that does
need a longer stop in between his races. Maximum improvement would
see him home and hosed despite being high up in the weights here
today and hard to see him not giving a solid account of himself if
in the same frame of mind as last time.
Tissue Price – Non-Runner
5. Fregate Island – Has a
fairly decent weight to carry for this race today and repeat of the
Folkestone 2nd to pocketwood would have him very hard to beat today.
Fairly lightly raced for a 5yo he is quite consistent and has shown
good solid form on this surface, The trip today has to be the
biggest cause for concern with the maybe a stiffer test of stamina
being better suited to him and with a doubt over how truly run this
race will be he could struggle despite a consistent profile at this
level.
Tissue Price – 6/1
6. Mataram – Hard to know
what to expect of this horse but today’s race could well be ideal
for him and he could be very hard to beat with everything in his
favour for a very big run today. The course is ideal for him as most
of his best running has come at a track such as this and trip has
proven to suit him in recent months. Always worth noting at this
level he has run with credit of late and in Chris Catlin he has an
able partner for this surface.
Tissue Price – 4/1
7. Baylini – Winner last time
out and has had sufficient time in between his races in which he is
very good first time out after a break and should be involved in the
finish if running up to his best form in which he should do as he
looks to have some improvement left in him and can improve on his
figures at this level today under regular pilot James Doyle.
Tissue Price – 3/1
8. Risque Heights – Not
totally without chance at the weights today and has proven to fairly
consistent all be it at a slightly lower level then contesting
today. Suited to the conditions of today’s race he could make up to
a nice horse at this level but is nothing out of the ordinary and
even with quite a few thing in favour today he may have to give way
to a slightly more classy rival at the weights, but isn’t without a
chance.
Tissue Price – 8/1
9. Transvestite – Near the
right end of the weights and one of the most exposed rivals in the
field, however this geldings performances are not the most
consistent and despite being given better races to contest in the
past he has struggled on the whole at this level and with doubts
over how effective he is over the trip he looks best passed over
today given that he needs most things in favour and fairly exposed
despite looking reasonably well treated at the weights
Tissue Price – 20/1
10. Generous Lad – Most
probably the least classy horse in the field if you look back at
what they have achieved but one of the more consistent horses in the
field at this level. The recent performances point to that he is
still in form and should give another good account, however his
overall form does strike me as being more consistent on the turf and
given that most of his rivals today are well suited to this surface
and are in form he may just struggle against the best of these.
Tissue Price – 14/1
11. Obrigado – The other old
boy in the field and brings up the weights having regressed over the
years and may be in need of a easier assignment these days then what
he has encountered at this level of late. Suited to these conditions
and trip he has fallen to a attractive mark and recent performances
will have stood him in good stead for a crack at this handicap.
Tissue Price – 16/1
Tissue – Baylini 3/1, Mataram 4/1, Fregate Island 6/1, Risqué
Heights 8/1, Fusili 10/1, Generous Lad 14/1, Obrigado 16/1,
Transvestite 20/1.
Verdict – Only
eight go to post now with three non-runners in the field declared
this morning and it still has a open look to it with Baylini likely
to go close to following up last run win around 2 months ago.
However I would be very surprise to see Mataram out of the frame
today and believe him to be today’s best betting prospect.
Selection –
2pts win Mataram @ 4.2-1 + 4pts place
@ 1.9
Well Chief
