3.40 The European Breeders Fund
Fillies stakes (Handicap) Class 2 7F GTF
1 - Medley – Consistent filly
who finally came good at Newmarket last time when holding on from
the fast finishing Worlds Heroine, she deserved her success but
doesn’t look anything out of the ordinary. The 2lbs rise isn’t
likely to prove too much off a concern to her, as she is likely to
run her race again here today. The ground and trip are ideal for her
and this track should play to her strengths. She has claims from top
weight in this handicap and should be thereabouts at the finish.
My Tissue Price – 7/1
2 – Our Faye – No contest for
listed class fillies last time over a mile where she may have not
seen out the trip having made progress early into the straight
before he effort flattened out and no surprise to see her drop back
in trip to the 7F over this stiff track. Winner against Wokingham
winner Dark missile the time before on quick ground she showed she
does have speed for a more sounder surface and is highly
progressive. The return to 7F shouldn’t be a problem and she has
landed both her starts at this track so far this season and posses a
turn of foot that can be used to great effect ness over this trip
today.
My Tissue Price – 4/1
3 – Miss Lucifer – Gives this
handicap an extra edge to it with some good handicap efforts
recently. The first of those was a solid looking 4th at Goodwood to
Docofthebay a consistent class 2 handicapper which came on either
side of two good runs against the highly talented Lovelace who has
landed a listed class event since those efforts. Never fails to give
her running on quick ground placing on all starts so far she
deserves a handicap success this season for consistence and based on
the Goodwood form she shouldn’t be far off this handicap today and
may use more forceful tactics which was seen to good effect at
Newmarket.
My Tissue Price – 7/2
4 – Steam Cuisine – Sent of
favourite last time at Newmarket when contesting a race similar to
this but at a slightly lower level and will be looking for revenge
today. The winner of that race was down to go in this but has been
pulled out for other engagements. The form of that Newmarket race
looks a bit hit and miss and Lavenham can’t be used as useful
yardstick as she flopped this day. Raised 10lbs for winning at the
end of June she has had two chances of her revised mark and even
though not beaten far she has failed to find the improvement
required winning at this higher level.
My Tissue price – 10/1
5 – Perfect Star – Course and
distance winner when narrowly beating Gyroscope of Sir Michael
Stoute and has turned out to justified that result with the better
follow up form. She has bumped into a progressive handicapper in
Shevchenko who was once considered pattern class before taking so
long to lose the maiden tag. The form of his running against that
rival stands up having finished 2nd twice to that rival resulting in
small rise in weight each time. She has a harder task today but the
3rd winning a low-grade handicap the other day has franked the form
and with course experience and ground and trip suiting she should
once again give her running.
My Tissue Price – 9/2
6 – Medicea Sidera –
Non-Runner
7 – Gaelic Princess – Winner
of this handicap 12 months ago when beating Gloved Hand something
Medley failed to do recently off similar terms, however Gloved hand
was unlucky that day and maybe should have won this handicap and has
certainly improved, however that is not taking anything away from
the now 7yo Gaelic Princess who has 3 course and distance wins and
plummeted in the weights to 4lbs below that winning mark last year,
however she has come up against a field with progressive rivals in
compared to last year and is out of the handicap by 3lbs making just
1lb well in on last years mark. Never fails to give her running at
this track and could well run into a place.
My Tissue price – 6/1
8 – Regal Quest – well beaten
on only start at this track on good to soft ground over a mile and
connections will be looking for a better effort today dropped back
to a trip she has recorded her only victory to date. Stable has
favourite in this race in the shape of Our Faye, but the second
string that receives weight all-round has a interesting jockey
booking in Franny Norton who has been seen to good effect in the
past on horses for Sly Kirk. Has found it hard going at a lower
level and may need soft ground to be at her best based on Leicester
form. Today’s race should be more fact finding about how much
ability she does have having bolted up at Kempton at this time 12
month ago.
My Tissue Price – 16/1
Tissue – Miss Lucifer 7/2, Our Faye 4/1, Perfect Star 9/2,
Gaelic Princess 6/1, Medley 7/1, Steam Cuisine 10/1, Regal Quest
16/1.
Verdict – Our Faye
has progressed well this season and could well be up to landing this
handicap and setting a personal best. Gaelic Princess is always
respected at this venue, as she looks to follow up her success from
12 months ago. Perfect Star and Miss Lucifer are two of five 3yo's
contesting this race and rates as the best bets from that age group.
Selection –
Miss Lucifer 2pt win @ 4-1 (BF
5.5)
