3.30 Woodford Reserve Handicap
Class 4 (3yo+ 0-80) 1M Good to firm
1 – Isidore Bonheur – Had 3
quick runs this month having been off for a year and has improved
with each run and wouldn’t be surprising to see him bounce back to
his best that saw him win off this mark last season when beating
Desert Realm over a mile at Redcar. Needs to improve again on the
last of his 3 runs when beaten to Dark Charm and may find a inform
rival to hot to handle in this handicap.
My Tissue Price – 6/1
2 – Kenmore – Hard to judge
horse who never runs identical races and isn’t one to fully trust as
he clearly has ability but quite often runs below form. Last seen
with a good effort at Newcastle when 2nd to Middlemarch over seven
furlongs and hasn’t contested a mile as of yet and looks a case of
the new yard trying to find out what he has to work with, this easy
mile shouldn’t be a problem for his stamina to last out, but he is
often best with cut underfoot and even though well handicapped on
old form he looks best passed over on his first try at this trip.
My Tissue Price – 10/1
3 – Society Music – Another
exposed horse in this hard 8 handicap and one that has been in
consistent form of late. Good to firm ground suits based on the last
two runs and she isn’t without a chance with only 1lb extra on her
handicap mark and still 4lbs lower then when winning a 3yo fillies
handicap. Beat Champlain Sands latest and finds himself better
weighted with that rival taking on board the claims and could well
confirm that running under Philip Makin at a track she has ran well
at in the past including when beating Byron Bay over course and
distance.
My Tissue Price – 5/1
4 – Shy Glance – Last seen
finishing behind Isidore Bonheur in the Dark charm race and will be
looking to confirm that form today with an extra 3lbs in weight
advantage based on the jockey change of that rival. Handles quick
ground well and effective over a mile he is likely to go well in
this handicap today with much in favour here and looks booked for a
place today.
My Tissue Price – 5/1
5 – Abbondanza – Quite
unexposed with just two runs so far this term after returning from a
break after pulling up over hurdles back in October. A winner of his
maiden over 10F from Spell Casting who has taken a while to break
his maiden tag and allotted quite a high mark compared to his raw
ability and the drop of 9lbs from last run has him around his actual
handicap mark and could well go well today but this Cape Cross
gelding looks better suited to further and could be out paced in a
race that isn’t likely to have confirmed pace.
My Tissue Price – 10/1
6 – Champian Sands – Was slow
away and then hampered when finishing 4th to Inside Story and can be
considered better then his finishing distance behind Society Music
and has claims to reverse the form with the stable changing the
jockey from a inexperienced claimer to Stephen Donohoe who has won
on the horse before and could well be the key to turning the tables
around with Society Music and has a lot in favour to do so.
My Tissue Price – 9/2
7 – Bolton Hall – Been inform
of late and was just denied last time of a mark of 63 when hanging
his chances away of reeling in the leader who made all and has been
turned out quickly for compensation in this better class of handicap
off the same mark and he is one that comes into this race very much
in form. Winner in and around this grade his 4 wins have come on
stiffer tracks and may find this flat 8F just a shade on the sharp
side and wouldn’t be a surprised to see him turned out quickly off
his 1lb higher future mark in a race that suits over a mile.
My Tissue Price – 5/1
8 – Wind Shuffle – Has been
raced over hurdles already and yet to show much promise in 3 maiden
races to date. May be well handicapped off this mark 62 and is
interesting on his first start for Jim Goldie, whose runners do well
at this track and any market influence should be noted.
My Tissue Price – 16/1
Tissue Prices – Champlain Sands 9/2, Society Music, Bolton
Hall, Shy Glance 5/1, Isidore Bonheur 6/1, Abbodanza, Kenmore 10/1,
Wind Shuffle 16/1.
Verdict – Open
handicap in which several are potential winners and it isn’t the
strongest of races in terms of strength, the top weight could well
return to form and land this with the minimum amount of fuss, while
Kenmure you are never sure how well he is likely to run. There are a
few form lines involved in this race and quite a few need a
personnel best to land this handicap while Abbodanza is the handicap
plummeted, however there are to many question marks on those
dropping down the handicap and this could fall very much between the
inform horses such as Society Music and Bolton Hall but preference
is for Champlain Sands to reverse the form with the return of a
winning jockey.
