3.30 Brighton SDS Group
handicap Class 4 (3yo 0-80) 7F Good
1 - Fiefdom - Dropped 6lbs
below his highest winning mark in the 2 years and has to overcome
some average races in recent weeks to overcome top weight in this
handicap. The last effort at Musselbrugh was disappointing and he
needs to bounce back to his best form to win under this weight
today. Needs to be produced earlier in his races then he was last
time and the addition of Seb Sanders is a bonus around Brighton.
My Tissue Price - 10/1
2 - Russian Symphony - Was
never a real factor at Salisbury, where he was well beaten to finish
in the last trio in a big field, that has proved to be a decent
level of form for horses to come out of. The step up to 7 from that
day seems to have suited, as he improved at Folkestone last time to
run his best race since 2005, and the handicapper is giving him a
chance. Finished just behind Takitwo, who is a non runner, after
making the running and pressed all the way, but doesn't need to lead
and could well tuck in behind the pace here to good effect. Track
should suit.
My Tissue price - 9/1
3 - Sun Catcher - Non-runner
4 - Scarlet Flyer - Won at
Goodwood with a sweeping run from last to first to beat the hard to
win with Blue Java. Still fairly well handicapped going into this
race and even though defeated last time it still showed that he is
ready to strike at the right level. Beaten 2L to Ivory Lace and if
they are to go quick up front the race may just fall in to his lap
from of the pace as he stays well and is a course winner when
winning over 6F here and is better over 7F these days and seems to
be in good form of late.
My Tissue Price - 5/1
5 - Manaal - Course and
distance winner on debut when beating Benllech on good to soft
ground in comfortable fashion where he was just pushed out to score.
Won on handicap debut at Ripon on quick ground over a mile in which
he just hung on to score and showed some quirks by hanging left in
the final furlong. Best on a quick surface and can be forgiven not
getting home on soft ground over a mile last time. The 10F race at
Pontefract was possibly the best run and potentially races over a
mile will be the making of this horse that is top rated on BHB
figures in this race today.
My Tissue price - 5/1
6 - Imperial Gain - The step
back up to 7F should suit him today and the 4lbs dropped on official
figures should help him today and the change to a 7lbs claimer helps
him further out at the weights. Back on a winning mark and should
improve for the drying ground. The change of stable hasn't done the
trick yet but Milton Bradley runners are always respected at this
track.
My tissue price - 14/1
7 - Proper - Back to back
winner in the spring and should make his presence felt up front with
a bold bid from the front. Has struggled since going up in the
weights and is starting to drop back the handicap to a mark that he
could strike off here. CD winner when beating slate in a 3yo
handicap here and then followed up well the next time when winning a
average handicap at catterick. Drying ground will suit and shouldn't
be far odd winning again once sights are lowered.
My Tissue price - 33/1
8 - Resplendent Nova - Not to
be discounted on turf despite the best efforts coming on the all
weather of late. Best over 7F you can discount the lame efforts so
far over a mile as he looks a 7F specialist. A winner over course
and distance when on this handicap mark and recent efforts at
Kempton suggest he is as good as he was a year ago. The drying out
ground has to be concerns with best form coming with give under
foot. Course suits and back handicapped to win he has strong claims
and should give his running if taking a pull to track the pace
rather then tackles it today.
My tissue price - 8/1
9 - Sagunt - Has group 3 form
in Germany in which he was outclassed in and starts his UK debut
after a year of the track. Likely to be put over hurdles soon and
this could well be a case of getting him prepped for that. Market
will give us pointer.
My tissue price - 25/1
10 - Desert Dreamer -
Finished 4th here last time behind the back to form Purus and is low
enough in the handicap to give himself a chance. If you go back
quite far in the formbook he has the best effort around here but has
progressed and recent efforts suggest he isn't any closer to winning
a handicap with some average efforts but drying ground will suit.
My tissue price - 20/1
11- Takitwo - Non-runner
12 - Quantum Leap - Ten year
old has dropped another 1lb in the handicap, which takes him back to
a winning mark, and is another who seems to be regressing based on
recent efforts with best recent effort coming over 6F at Sailsbury
in which he finished just ahead of Imperial gain. Step back up to 7F
from that day should help him against that rival but isn't certain
to confirm the form as that opponent was staying on better.
My tissue price - 20/1
13 - Border Edge - Won plenty
of races and is another who is exposed and struggling to give a good
running in recent weeks. Needs to return to the form that saw him
win over a mile here but that was a poor race ran at a cruel and
just got up to win. Not sure if this race is likely to suit him and
with recent form having him well held, this looks a shade to tough
at the moment.
My tissue Price - 20/1
14 - Real Naughty - Paired
with William Buick at the bottom of the handicap, to give this 3yo a
chance under the allowances, as this colt takes on the older horses
for the first time. The stable are not finding winners at present,
but the drying ground should suit and based on the 7F race at
Salisbury, he has claims in receipt of weight all-round here. Made
good head way and stayed the trip well if they go quick here could
well stay on to get up late under a talented jockey.
My tissue price - 9/1
