9.00 Goodwood – Fillies
Handicap stakes (class 4) (3yo+ 0-85) 7F Soft
1 – Ivory Lace – She seems to
be in good form and progressed from last season to win a race just
as well as the one she carries top weight in today. Well suited by
7F and overcoming four poor efforts here to beat several course
specialists she should make her presence felt again if overcoming
the testing conditions today. On breeding she shouldn’t be to hinder
on the going but should make her task much harder this time around.
My Tissue Price – 3/1
2 – Spring Goddess – Well beaten here last time but that race
will most probably turnout to be a better race then the one Ivory
Lace won taking the finishing distance of Martial Witness who is a
good yardstick for this track. Potentially likely to struggle again
here as she does seemly run much better on a straight galloping
track that could be considered more stiff in the finish then the
downhill 7F of Goodwood and with her best form over 8F she could be
staying on all a bit to late in behind.
My Tissue Price – 9/2
3 – Linda Green – All wins
over shorter trip she is entitled to have another attempt over 7F
having maybe found the 7F at Newbury and Leicester a little too much
for her. However with the ground having juice in she should give a
very bold bid today. Maybe not the classiest filly in the field and
one that benefits from larger fields she has a few things against
her but at least she is guaranteed to go on the surface which is a
major plus on days such as this.
My Tissue Price – 9/2
4 – Our Faye – The likely
favourite with most bookmakers after winning at Salisbury and having
a progressive profile as she looks on the upgrade. 2nd run back this
season and you always have to be a bit careful with Fillies after a
break and the total different conditions has to have some question
marks over her. She carried 10 stone last time which is no easy feat
today and albeit under a penalty of 4lbs for that run her task is
made easier on ground that 10 stone would have made a considerable
difference. Partnered with Jimmy Fortune she has a good chance in
this race if handling the conditions as well as the supposedly
tougher opponents.
My Tissue Price – 7/2
5 – Miss Jenny – Non Runner
6 – Pelican Key – Has
something to prove after two poor efforts so far this season and
hasn’t had any real excuses and may just have failed to train on
after a couple of runs in listed company last season. Dropping down
the handicap and unknown on these conditions she looks one to keep a
eye on for future low grade races.
My Tissue Price – 16/1
7 – Towy Girl – Yet to really
show anything of note even though a close effort in a very average
maiden at Kempton not to long ago. Showed at least a consistent edge
on the all weather over a mile and this drop back in trip to over 7F
shouldn’t be too much of a problem. Handicap debut and even though
found a easy looking race she hasn’t shown to much to say she is
well handicapped but of the two 3yo she appeals the most based on
that 2nd in a maiden at Kempton.
My Tissue Price – 9/1
Verdict – A poor
same sex handicap here and Our Faye is a little to short even though
two of the main rivals are better over six or eight furlongs. Being
a small field it is likely to suit Linda Green turn of speed on this
ground even though she prefers a bigger field to travel covered up.
Ivory Lace is in general around 100-30 with most bookmakers and with
the top 4 more evenly matched then the bookmakers are suggesting I
would be prepared to take this price in this race.
Selection –
Ivory Lace 1pt @ 100-30 (BF4.6)
