1 – Swan Queen – On the
upgrade and handles tough conditions such as this based on the way
she travelled up to Beat Cool Customer at York last season and
returned to form this season at Salisbury after letting Pocketwood
the time before nick the race. Handles ground this soft and comes
into her own this time of year she has a solid chance based on the
fact she is certain to see this trip out today. Enjoys a Galloping
track and should handle these undulations well. The performance at
Sandown has her down as one to keep on side off in testing
conditions and she is effective in small fields.

2 – Ogee – Pulled out on
Saturday for what would be regarded as a easier assignment and given
that he was entered for the 2M race suggest that he is regarded as
one that is likely to stay the trip. Won twice around Windsor last
season and yet to get close to those performances yet this season
with the run at Kempton most probably being the closest to that
performance even though the run over 12F was a good effort also.
Seems to do best in the early part of the season there is potential
that the handicapper has had him this season, but he is consistent
and if staying this 14F should be a leading player in this race.

3 – Right To Play – Non-runner
4 – Mustajed – Non-runner
5 – Caricciola – Has been
running well over hurdles and seems in good terms with himself in
the way he has travelled over the past 12 months and looks
rejuvenated on that showing. Good run in the County hurdle at the
festival was one of his best performances last season and Nicky
Henderson is always a National Hunt trainer to respect when entering
his hurdlers on the flat. Soft ground is no problem, but the fear is
the technical speed he has, as he never has possessed a great turn
of foot.

6 – Dundry – Could possibly
get a easy time out in front in this small field and the opponents
wouldn’t want to give him to much of a easy time out in front
tonight as he handles the ground and trip and could get into a nice
rhythm here. Handicapper looks to have his measure and more
progressive rivals in the field are always going to cause him
problems.

Verdict – Tricky
little affair but the one that sticks out is Swan Queen who will be
shorter then I hoped for when 6 runners stood there ground, but with
2 notable non runners the 15-8 in some places looks far to good to
miss out on today.
