3.45 Pontefract Fillies Handicap Class 3 (3yo+ 0-90) 6F Soft
1- Sunderland Echo – Struggling in the handicap after being
battered for some also runs in listed company in which she ran onto
finish 3rd to serial losers such as Appalachian Trail and finished
last on testing going at Newcastle on Saturday. Best to stick with
sprinters in form she has a lot to prove being turned out this
quickly.
My tissue Price – 16/1
2 – Keyaki – Non-runner
3 – El Soprano – Improt from Ireland for Kevin Ryan yard who
aren’t having such a good time of it this season. The ground should
be ideal today as should the course having run very well at The
Curragh last season. On first start for Kevin Ryan and taking on
older sprinters she is by far the best rated horse in this race on
official ratings and given her runs 2nd to the likes of Holly Roman
Emperor and Hawya Now Kid as a 2yo she has to have strong claims if
handling this ground and fit to go.
My Tissue Price – 4/1
4 – Robema – Another interesting runner in this handicap and one
that shouldn’t be lacking for stamina from the John Quinn yard. Not
seen since winning on handicap debut 12 months ago and you would
have to take her well being on trust here today. She stays further
then this 6F and its to be seen if this drop back in trip will suit
as she enjoys the stiff tracks and on breeding she should handle
this ground very well.
My Tissue Price - 5/1
5 – Queens Lodge – Has struggled to show anything of note in her
last 8 runs and has only just started to get some help from the
handicapper at long last. She returns after a long layoff and will
be interesting to see how she gets on for future handicaps.
My tissue price – 33/1
6 – Misphire – Ideal conditions for this horse today that carried
9 stone 11lbs to victory last time at the testing track of Haydock.
6F is the ideal trip for this horse and with less weight today and
one runner who is certain to move well through the ground at pace,
she has to have strong claims to land this race today under Darryl
Holland again.
My Tissue Price – 5/2
7 – Shes Minnie – Ran well behind Keyaki last time at Folkestone
and just lost 2nd in the last 50 yards. This tougher track and with
stamina zapping ground she has to have a worse chance then last time
even if potentially this field isn’t as good as the last race she
ran in. Best over 5F she does handle ground with cut in but her best
performances seem to come at sharper tracks then this and she is
likely to be outstayed.
My Tissue price – 7/1 8 – Flying Valentino – Winner over 6F at
Newcastle on good to firm ground under first choice jockey for the
Alan Swimbank yard Dean Mckewon and looked that day very much a fast
ground horse. Has struggled since in handicaps around this level and
May still be handicapped up to her best. The ease in the ground
isn’t likely to be ideal for her on breeding and with the
handicapper maybe just holding her and young Andrew Elliot (poor S/R
Here) in the saddle, another day looks a best for her.
My Tissue price – 14-1
9 – Pick a Nice Name – Not beaten far on Saturday despite
finishing 6th as it was a bunch finish and turned out quickly here.
The ground shouldn’t be a problem and the trip she seemed to stick
it out well enough here. She should go close today providing she
doesn’t show any ill effects from Saturday’s slog.
My Tissue Price - 10/1
10 – Ay Aye Defiantly – Richard Fahey does well in this sprint
and he has the bottom weight here which is always a advantage on
conditions such as this. Handles give in the ground based on Irish
form and shaped with promise on her last start at Ayr in which she
wasn’t beaten far, still going the right way and another 3yo that
could cause problems to the older sprinters.
My Tissue Price – 8/1
Verdict – A tricky
soft ground affair in which Misphire is likely to make her presence
felt on tough going such as this. The interesting horse has to be
the newcomer to Kevin Ryan yard who has juvenile form to go very
well in this class of handicap today if training on from last season
and the trainer should know a good youngster having prided himself
in recent seasons on getting them to progress nicely along as
youngsters and she takes the eye at the prices along with Robena who
is going the right way.
Selection –
El Soprano 1pt win @ 7-1 (10.0BF) &
Robena 1pt @ 11-2 (9.0BF)
