Eintracht
Frankfurt vs Schalke 04
Schalke got their season back on track with an impressive 3-2
victory at Hannover a fortnight ago. Never an easy place to go, it
was quite a feat for Mirko Slomka's conservative side to rack up
three goals on the road. With a great chance of progressing to the
last 16 of the Champions League, things are looking up for the
perennial underachievers.
Frankfurt on the other hand, picked up a third successive away
draw as heavy underdogs against Wolfsburg last week. In the
continued absence of influential midfielders Streit and Meyer, it
suits Friedhelm Funkel's side to play a counter-attacking style and
hit sides on the break. However, when the onus is on them to attack,
it's often the case that the creativity just isn't there without
their two biggest midfield assets. An attacking strategy backfired
spectacularly against Stuttgart two weeks ago and, with Funkel
predicting an attacking game this afternoon, Schalke can take
advantage in similar fashion.
Recommendation: 4 pts Schalke
