VFB Stuttgart vs
VFL Wolfsburg
Stuttgart's resurgence came to a grinding halt last week as they
were humbled by struggling Borussia Dortmund on their own patch.
Fatigue could well have played a large part, with the Swabians
having worked so hard to come from behind to beat Rangers four days
earlier. While there's no doubt that a week off should pay
dividends, Armin Veh's side still look vulnerable against Wolfsburg
today. The Defence is still looking rusty, while leading scorer
Mario Gomez continues to be plagued by injury problems. His
partner-in-crime Cacau is also struggling, which means the
disappointing Ciprian Marica may be the only recognised striker on
show
Wolfsburg are struggling towards the wrong end of the table,
having twice thrown away a lead at home to Frankfurt last week.
However, Felix Magath has bundles of quality at his disposal, and
it's surely only a matter of time before they start to grind out the
results their attacking displays merit. There was a lot to like
about their performance in Munich two weeks ago. A similar showing
here may well be enough to subject VFB to a second successive home
defeat.
Recommendation: 1.5 pts Wolfsburg
@ 9/2. Stan James, Paddy Power.
