Get Low on goals in
Denmark
Denmark need a result against Spain in Aarhus tonight to keep their
Euro 2008 dreams alive. Recent wins against Latvia and
Liechtenstein, and an excellent point in Sweden have given them
hope. However, five points separate them from group leaders
Sweden and Spain. It's do or die now.
Luis Aragones has been heavily criticised for his squad selection
for this game. A training ground injury to Fernando Torres
yesterday, means Spain go into this crucial fixture with only one
fit striker - Espanyol's Raul Tamudo. It appears that Aragones
will field a 4-5-1 formation, with the Spaniards just needing a
point to cement their five point advantage over their only realistic
challengers for a top two spot.
Denmark have only scored 13 goals in eight games in a group
containing Latvia, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Northern Ireland.
Against this negative-looking Spain side, full of keep-ball
specialists, it's hard to imagine them seeing enough of the ball to
do any serious damage. Their main strength lies at the other
end, with only four goals conceded. Morten Olsen will fancy
his side can keep it tight once more, with Villa and Torres not
around to wreak havoc. Aragones had better hope plan A works
out, because looking at his squad, there doesn't appear to be a plan
B.
Denmark vs Spain. Saturday 19:00.
Recommendation: 3 pts 0-1
goals @ 5/2 Sportingbet. 0.5pts Tamudo first goalscorer.
8/1 Expekt.
